What Do You Use to Clean Your Shower?

Comet.

Sprinkle it on, add a little water to make a paste, and use a scrub brush. Then let it sit for 30 minutes. Rinse.

No, you don't need to worry about scratching. It's gentle.

I use the Magic Eraser when it's like that. Works like a charm for us.

On regular days, I use Comet or Scrub Free too.

Black stuff sounds like mold. The only thing I've used for mold has been Chlorox bleach. And even then it didn't get all the black off because the spores tunnel in to the material. I've never used it for the tub. There are products made just for mold.

For regular tub dirt such as soap build up, we pour cheap shampoo on the surface, wait several hours and wash it off. Tub gleams every time.

If your tub is fiberglass you need to stay away from anything with grit in it. Gritty cleaners will scratch the tub.

I LOVE the brand Method. They have a cleaner called Le Scrub, that I use in my bathroom. It's a very gentle, mild abrasive. However, It works incredibly well. Smells nice, too! It's a non toxic cleaner, so no burning lungs.

I use plain old Comet with Bleach. It's $.98 at Walmart for the large can. Then I use a scrubber on a stick or a scrubber with a coarse side. It cleans and sanitizes as well as a shower or bathtub can be. I use the hand held shower head and rinse it very well.

If we are going to sit in the tub right after cleaning then after rinsing the comet out I squirt a bit of dish soap in the bottom of the tub, lather it, then rinse it again. If there are any particles from the Comet left over the dish soap lifts them off the surface and they rinse away better.

If we are just going to shower I don't bother past just rinsing the tub well.

I also use the same product in the sinks, the toilets, the floor to get up a Koolaid stain, etc...it cleans multi surfaces.

I use a different bathroom. He prefers the shower w/ built-in seat in our other bedroom. He uses the Comet spray gel w/ bleach or disinfectant. Can't remember how it's labeled. Oh, & a scrubby pad.

For regulat dirt Scrubbing Bubbles and a long handled scub brush... more leverage and you do not break your back bending.

If you have mold growing in your tie grout, get a Clorox Bleach Pen... yes you will need to ventilate, but apply it to the grout and let it sit. After a bit (the worse it is the longer you should leave it) clean it off. If there is still a slight discoloring apply again.

Then, so it does not come back (or most likely delay its return), when the last person is done with thier shower, they should wipe it dry.

Soft scrub and I have one of those scouring pad type sponges.

My mom was a fanatic about cleaning, she never used comet or those tough abrasives b/c they scratch the porcelain in the tub and toilets, dirt and stains become deposited in those scratches.

If you ask someone experienced who sells bathroom fixtures, toilets, (home depot or lowes person) they will advise against those harsh cleansers.
Been using Soft Scrub for years.

Try Lysol Mold and Mildew

Spray a good amount on the area to be treated and let it sit for quite a while...maybe an hour or two...to allow it to sink in. Then scrub with a magic eraser or textured sponge. It may not work perfectly the first time, but, once you do this consistently, it'll start to show alot of improvement. The key is to let the solution sit for a while to penetrate the discoloration.

I use a tub and tile cleaner from the Melaleuca company. You have to be a member to order stuff, but I've been very please with all their products. I just cleaned my tub today, after like 1.5 months. I just spray it on, let it sit a few minutes and do a quick scrub. Easy peasy. They also make a daily shower cleaner but I haven't tried that yet.

My shower floor isn't black it's just coffee colored, I tried pouring bleach on and sort of scrubbing it as I rinsed it off but it didn't work.

I'll probably try the comet, do i need to worry about it scratching what ever the showerfloor is made of?? I'm assuming fiberglass, it's a typical standup teeny shower.

I use Melaleuca products for all of my cleaning needs. The toughest job I ever had to tackle was the bathroom of my daughter's roommate when she moved out. The girl didn't clean her bathroom in the 9 months she lived there - GROSS! Tub & Tile did a great job; I let everything soak first and the scum just wiped off! I was amazed. Sol-U-Mel is terrific as a cleaning booster, and it also kills mold, so a combo of Melaleuca products might be a good bet. No worries about overpowering, chemical smells. All products are manufactured without chemicals.

After you use all the ideas you are getting, may I suggest you hang a squeegy on the shower wall and encourage everyone to squeegy the walls and floor of the shower after each shower? Ever since we've done this, it's been much easier to clean the shower and to avoid any mold, because it dries faster.

I use scrubbing bubbles and bleach when needed. *Note, I do not use them together* I have an apt bathroom with no windows so mold and mildew can build quickly - and occasionally they do so that is what I use to remove that type of nastiness. Bleach of course is abrasive but the scrubbing bubbles is not.

scrubbing bubbles, but I do not have anything like what you are describing ... typically I associate black with mold and there is stuff for that, but I personally have not had this issue.
