Hi,
I am currently in freak out mode. I have 4 boys. 3 of the boys have ADD and my husband recently diagnosed with mild bi polar. My husband switched jobs due to he retired. well the old job offered insurance for a $1000.00 a month. I applied for medicaid was denied. I am to my wits end what i can do if Hubby's new job insurance considers my kids pre existing. I need to find something to help with these meds. As it is enough chaos without the worries of meds.
Thanks for your help in advance.

Hi R.,
My husband is a financial advisor for Country Financial. His office is located across from Zona Rosa. He would be more then happy to sit down with you and see what options are out there for you. His name is Michael Fitkin and you can reach him at ###-###-####.
I have a child with special health needs and my husband and I met with two different insurance people and we were told that we were protected under the Hippa law. As long as you do not let your children go without insurance for more than 60 days then there condition can not be considered pre existing. Hope this help!
montel williams has a program for low income families. the phone number i think is 877-466-2669. if the 877 is wrong you might try the other 800s that they usually have to call places like that. they help you to get cheap meds for your family when you dont have insurance. if you cant get the phone number right you might go to montels website and look there. hope it helps. my mom went through them and got her meds for a very low price. god bless, R.
As long as you had insurance coverage non-stop, your husband's new insurance has to cover you. There's no such thing as a pre-existing condition anymore. However, if there was a break in your insurance for any reason, they may require you to wait before covering you.
As long as you don't have a break in coverage that last longer than 60 days insurance cannot legally deny any services as pre-existing. No matter what the condition is.
I was in a similar situation not long ago with no insurance for my children. Try the Cox Health plans, they are online, and fairly reasonable (I pay $77/month for an 18 month old, with $30 office copay benefit). Good luck. You should also be able to get on the $4 programs at WalMart or Walgreens until you get something figured out.
We have Blue Cross/Blue shield. For your kids ADD what meds do they take? I used to work for a company that gave free meds to people who couldn't afford it and had no insurance. Go to www.express-scripts.com and check it out. If they are on Ritalin or Focalin, go to Novartis.com and look for their PAP program. Email me if you would like some more help. I worked there for 5 years, so I can probably help you find just about any med. Good luck!!
I may be wrong but I was under the impression that the reason family insurance through an employer was so costly was because it auto-covers pre-existing conditions.
If that is not the case you might want to check out Health Alliance, the rates are very good for myself and my children.
I believe it is called kids first it is insurance through the state of Illinois. When I first read about it I read that you had to be without insurance for a year but that is not true I know people that got it right away when they needed it.
Sorry it is called All kids

I would call the insurance company and ask them about their pre-existing policy. Some conditions that are "pre-existing" do not fall under the "pre-existing" limitations because of the nature of the condition and it varies from company to company. There are lots of insurance companies out there and you could probably find something out there that will cover your whole family for less then $1000 a month.
