I've had a fever all day and haven't been able to break it. I don't want to take a bunch of meds because I'm still breastfeeding, and besides everything I've taken, Tylenol and Advil haven't worked. Any other reccomendations? I feel miserable!!!

What can I do next?

Drink lots of cool but not cold fluids. Chicken broth. Try to get rest. Once I was so sick I stayed in bed and DH brought the baby to me as needed.

If tylenol and advil have not worked you need to see a doctor. If it's a bacterial infection you may need to go on antibiotics (your Dr. can prescribe something that is safe while breastfeeding).
If you just want to get the temp down to feel more comfortable you can take a lukewarm bath.
Good luck.

Make sure you know why you are having a fever.
ie: are you sick with a cold?
Are you having blocked ducts and perhaps have mastitis or painful breasts?

How high, is your fever???
If it is not high, try letting it be.
A fever serves to fight the infection/illness.
If it gets too high... take a tepid bath, and/or put cold cloths under your arm pits and under your knees. This is per my friend who is a Nurse.

Are you monitoring your temperature???
How long have you had the fever?
Have you seen, a Doctor?

And keep hydrated with water... because fever can cause dehydration, which will then affect your milk production.

Tylenol and Advil. I second Jo W. - you might try taking them together. Because Tylenol is processed through the liver and Advil through the stomach, they do not interact with each other.

You also might try taking a cool bath or shower, and I've heard that putting rubbing alcohol on your feet can help, but I've never tried it.

Sorry, and feel better soon.

I was hoping that you were going to go to the doctor today, M.. Please go to the doctor. This is actually a pretty high fever and you might have some sort of infection.

Please get to the doctor.

Pretty much that is it. You can take them together if you think that would work.

You have had the fever too long. Could be a bad bacterial infection--- you need antibiotics. Call the doctor now and get an appt. Hope you feel better.
