What Is the Best Monitor?

I like the Sony one. Its has a "voive activated" option that is great so you don't hear that constant white noise. It only makes sound when baby makes sound. There are no weird beeps and the range is very very good(we have a 2 story).
I used a few other brands that I received from baby showers and from family(even expensive ones) and I didn't like any as much as this one. I bought it as a recommendation from one of the mom's on this site and I'm so glad I did.

We have this monitor (link below). I absolutely LOVE it. Would buy another one in a heartbeat. I was terrified to move my son from the bassinet to his room, but this video monitor is so sensitive I can hear him breathing. It also hooks up to the TV if you want to. Every once in a while the cordless phone will interfere with it, but not often enough for me to be bothered by it.

We have the summer infant video monitor and we love it. We have had ours for almost 4 years and still use it. We also have a second monitor for my oldest that we really love. It is the Philips Dect Technology. It allows us to run both monitors in the house without getting interference from either one. They are both great!

I think the best monitor is a video monitor. That way you can see the baby. When my son was a baby and napping, I could see and hear him on the tv monitor while I was downstairs or out of the room.

Is no monitor! Girl, take it back and get your money back. If he was sleeping just fine, he will do just fine with out it. Get some rest! He is going to be fine!!!!

We have a graco digital monitor- it has 2 "recievers" so I have 1 in the bedroom and 1 in the living room. Most of the time I can hear my son without it, but sometimes he can cry and cry (like if I have the tv on, or I am vacumming) and if I dont' have the monitor on- I can't hear him. If I remember correctly it cost about $80 at Babies R us.

We had 2 monitors before this one that were CRAP!!!! One was loaned to us and would crackle and pop in the middle of the night. We would be sound asleep and "Crack, Snap, Pop, Pop, Pop" I would wake up with a start. The second one, we bought for about $35 or so and it picked up music (on the spanish channel) and CB radios.

Spend a little more and get a good one- also look on Babies R Us and you can read people's reviews of the different products (and if you don't want to buy it at Babies R Us- you can usually find them elsewhere but the reviews are helpful!!)

We love our Sony BabyCall. I think it's the 900 Mghz one? Our son is two and we stil use it since we just transitioned him to a big boy bed to make room for baby #2. We will probably buy another one for the baby's room. It's not fancy looking, but does the job and has tons of channels so it doesn't interefere with other monitors around us, since our neighborhood is full of babies. Hope this helps!

When it was time to get our daughter out of the bassinet and into the crib, our pediatrician told us to NOT use the monitor. She said unless you live in Buckingham Palace you are going to hear your baby cry. They make so many little noises when they sleep and sometimes cry out in their sleep. You don't want to be running in there at the first sound because this trains them that you will always "rescue' them - even when they don't need you. They will expect you to run in there even when they are 2, 3, 4 years old. We took her advice and turned off the monitor at night. She was sleeping ALL night (10 hrs) at 10 weeks old. I really suggest not even using it.

We have had several monitors over the years, and the one we keep going back to is a Sony audio monitor. I also use a First Years video monitor and have nad no problems with it. Sometimes the picture is a little fuzzy, but I can still see the baby and the sound quality is perfect. Sometimes you just have to try a few different brands and/or try them in different spots in the room to avoid interference from other electronics. Blessings to you and your new little one!

We use the Summer Day and Night monitor with video. They have a handheld one that is the most expensive or one with a larger less portable monitor for about $70 less. We bought ours at a discount store (Burlington) so the price may be a little different directly from their web site. We used to have a monitor without the video and we had to keep it up really loud so there was a constant buzzing noise. But this one is so sensitive that we can keep it low so we don't hear buzzing but when the baby makes noise we can still here it.

The monitor we use (and rarely used because my son slept with us) is the Graco imonitor. It's resonably priced (I think) and can be purchased with either one or two parent units that have their own charging base. It's digital and never picked up any interference or listened in on phone calls. It has great range, too. It still picks up clear reception up to 2000 ft. I know, I sound like an advertisement! LOL. It ranges anywhere from $50-100, depending on how many parent units you get. And you can buy it at most retailers. That's the one we have and when it's been used, it works great! I'd like to give my two cents on what not to get. The First Years monitor. Mine was O.K. until the girl next door had a baby. Now, all I can her is everything in her house. Needless to say, it went bye-bye. As far as snap, crackle, pop, this one was very noisy. I used to say it sounded like we were trying to tune in Tokyo!!!

I have a moniter from walmart i paid 30 or 40 (i cant remember) i think it is a safety first, again not sure (a friend is using it right now). I love it, when we go to my MIL apt. they have like 6 computers running at all times, phones in all rooms, and a whole bunch of other stuff going, and i have never had any interference on it at all, there is no static, nothing. Of course it doesnt have a video on it, but i know they sell them too.

Our video monitor does the same thing. We have two. The video monitor stays in our bedroom (it is a mini tv so it is kind of big. We have the Summer sound monitor. I'm not sure of the model but we got it at babies r us and it is silver. I think it was $30 or $40. It is a great monitor. If you have the volume way up there is a slight steady static but no crackle pop. If you have the monitor on the lowest volume it is plenty loud to hear the baby and plenty quite not to bother you.

Just a basic question--did u check to make sure u had the monitors on the same channel? We don't have the video camera monitor but the crackling does happen for us if the channels are different. Just a thought...

I've tried just about every monitor out there. With all the interference we received because of the electronics in our home, and the monitors our neighbors were running, the best one I found was the Sony brand. They are only audio monitors though, not video. (Of course they may have a video version too for all I know).

Hi there! We have the night vision monitor to and it does the same thing. Try a couple of things. If you have a house phone unplug it from the phone jack. And also try alternating the channels on the monitor. For some reason cordless phones interfere with the reception of the monitor. Hope that works. If not call the number on the monitor and return for a new one. Take care.
