What Is the Safest/cleanest Type of Professional Carpet Cleaning to Use?

I need to get my carpets cleaned and want to use the least invasive/chemical way possible (or safer chemicals if need be). I have to get them all cleaned as I cannot replace them now and I had a sick dog that had a few accidents (were cleaned at the time but probably soaked somewhat into the padding?) that are my main concern to get cleaned along with the carpet to get the smell out!? I have a toddler and don't want her walking/breathing in bad fumes, so any suggestions???

Hi L. :)

We live down in O.C. There is a company called Renew Carpet Cleaning. We used them for the normal everyday child wear and tear and juice stains and what not... I was ready to recarpet, but after they left, it looked like we already had! They are awesome and don't use all those horrible checmicals. I was concerned about that also. Their number is 1-866-420-8871. Their prices aren't bad either ;)

Merry Christmas!
J.

Melaleuca makes some great products that can also be used to clean carpets. They are totally safe and really work. I can send you the list of ingrediants if interested.

I used Zerorez and they use super hot water to clean the carpets and claim to use no chemicals. The carpets came out great!

I have NEVER had a professional carpet cleaner actually get rid of any stains. They look clean at first, but somehow the stains re-emerge. You can try baking soda and vinegar for the smell, or nature's miracle (at the pet store). I had an elderly cat who became incontinent, and these things worked to get rid of the smell. The stains are still there, even after professional carpet cleaning. If you do find one that works, please let me know!!!

Look for a chem-dry carpet cleaner in your area. Although the name contains the word "chem" in it and might put you off, their system is supposed to be completely safe & non-toxic. You might want to double check though. If you want to do it yourself, you could rent a carpet cleaner (at the grocery store or hardware store) and use a cleaner of choice that you like. You can actually use good old fashioned laundry detergent in it, but don't use too much or you'll get too many suds.

Renew Carpet Cleaning is the best, they are professional, on time, went above and beyond any other company to ensure top notch cleaning with green products, especially suffering from allergies. Carpet dried really fast, no residue and it is staying cleaner longer. Affordable too. I love Renew and I highly recommend them. ###-###-#### or (866)420-8871.
P.S. Best part they are a full service cleaning company for tile, carpet, upholstery, rugs....

I just had Chem-Dry done on our sofas, this is the 2nd time we've had them do it. It's great.... the guy told me that there is NO chemicals... it is only "carbonated water" that is used to clean. THAT IS ALL.

LOTS of grime/body oils/dust came out and I could see the "dirty" water in the cleaning receptacle turn all "black."

Not ALL stains can come out though... but it does clean the carpet or furniture...(our furniture is very old and OLD stains, so maybe that is why).

Good luck,
Susan

Use Right Away Carpet Dry Cleaning. They use a dry, organic substance to clean the carpets. It's completely safe for people & animals (you could even eat it!), smells great and it's dry so you can use the carpets right away (hence the name). They are the same or less than steam or chemical cleaning companies and it works even better. Their number is 877-607-4448.

L.,
Who did you end up using? I called Chem Dry requesting MSDS sheets and was having problems with the fax. The guy was extremely rude so I won't be using them. I also saw a company called AA Natural Carpet Care from the Valpak. Your advice is greatly appreciated.

CHEM Dry is the best I got my carpets cleared by them about 6 months ago, it was the BEST clean I've ever had... My carpets are about 3 years old and no pet stains BUT I have 7 year old who loves to eat and drink in her room.... they system is pet safe and carpet is not left wet.. i will definately keep using them every 6 months for upkeep. Gotta warn you though it's a little pricy in comparison to the steam clean system but definately worth it....

We just cleaned our carpets this past weekend. Instead of the carpet cleaning solution we used peroxide and it worked wonderful and dried within a few hours - even in this cold weather we've been having. Not sure where you are located, but Stater Brothers is having a buy one/get one free on all Top Care brands, I bought that brand of peroxide and got the extra bottle free.
