I got a Paragaurd IUD (NON hormonal) put in( after baby #4) in early december, before that i had two periods since she was born in july. After my IUD was put in i have only had spotting twice and no period to speak of for almost five months. I took a few pregnancy tests just to make sure i wasnt preggo. I wouldnt care but my Dr said that the IUD wouldnt affect my period except maybe heavier flow.
Why is my period gone?
Have any of you had weird symptoms with your IUD?
Can I get pregnant with an IUD? How likely is it? Have you ever gotten preggo with an IUD?

also, I have no pain or cramping whatsoever. I am almost always nauseous and ive been on and off throwing up and diarrhea for the last two months.

I am not pregnant, I took a test today.
WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK???

What can I do next?

Actually everyone I've talked to that has the Mirena IUD says they have no period. The copper IUD [Paraguard] causes much heavier bleeding. So it really depends on which one you have. If it's the Mirena, it's normal. If it's copper, I'd get a second opinion.

Have you called your doctor? There are many different kinds of IUD's out there. Many of them have a hormone/drug that will stop your period.
I was on DepoProvera for years before I got my IUD, and my IUD has the same hormone/drug that is in Depo. Call your doctor!!!!

Edited to add: I have the Mirena. Call your doctor.

It is difficult to determine the type of side effects that are usual with your IUD because you did not mention the type of IUD that was placed.

I suspect by what you described that you may have had a Mirena IUD placed. If that is the case, you should expect this side effect. Having a lighter and possibly absent period was one of the deciding factors for me in having the Mirena placed. I was plagued with very heavy periods and did not want further children at the time. Uterine ablation seemed too permanent because there was a slight chance of wanting a 3rd child.
So, I opted for the Mirena and it has been the best thing ever. There are always potential side effects with any medication, device or medical procedure so education and weighing the risks vs benefits is suggested with anything.

If you do have a Mirena, I can tell you that most women experience a 90% reduction in their menstrual cycle and some women's cycle ceases all together. I would suggest visiting www.mirena-us.com/ for more information.

If you do not have a mirena, you should contact your healthcare provider. If you do have a mirena and are still unsure, doubtful or the side effects are unacceptable to you, you should also contact your healthcare provider.

I hope this helps.

Also, nausea and vomitting is NOT normal over a 2 month period. This warrants a call to the doctor. It may or may not be related but in any instance, is not something that is normal.

call the doc. i got mine in the paraguard you mention in the post and finally got a period after none. mine add a slight for an extra half day, not the buckets like everyone makes it seem.
did not get pregnant for the 9 years it was in and had a baby last year after getting it out. your symptoms sound like mirena though.
discuss no flow with your doc. there can be other causes

Sounds to me like the IUD that you have does not agree with your body chemistry. I have an IUD - Mirena. I have had it for 2 1/2 years and had no problems. At first I had light periods and then no period or a VERY light one. I do have cramps some times and PMS sympotoms. I have read that when inserted correctly and IUD is 99% effective in preventing pregnancy - just like taking the birth control pill. I would go back to your doctor and talk to him/her. If you do not feel comfortable with what you are told, get a 2nd opinion.
