I go to the spa for a massage or facial. I also love lunching by myself with a magazine at a place like Corner Bakery or Panera.
So it seems like I don't have many hobbies anymore since my daughter (21 months old) was born... I guess she became my hobby! I wanted to get some ideas from all you great mamas about what it is you like to do when you have a morning or day to yourself, either by yourself or with a friend.

This might be silly, but I really enjoy getting a cup of coffee and hitting the yard sales with a friend. Gets us out in the fresh air and lets us "shop" without kids. Once and a while we even find a treasure. :)
Awe, thinking about the nice weather coming soon makes me smile.
I get my hair done, go browsing or shopping, out to lunch and a movie, gardening, reorganizing (I'm a little OCD)...
Gardening
crochet (it is relaxing)

Nothing.
Just doing NOTHING, is good for me. I rarely get those moments.
And just having quiet.
J.,
I would suggest checking out meetup.com for a playgroup. They usually have things you can take your child to do but it will also give you a great opportunity to make some new mommy friends. Most of them plan Mom's night out activites as well.
As an answer to your question, I usually go browse the bookstore, grab a cup of coffee, get a pedicure etc. Sometimes when I get a Saturday night to myself I sign up for a scrapbooking session either at a friends house ( I found a scrapbooking group on meetup.com) or to a store that offers a class or open crop.
Good for you for taking time to take a break, a happy mom makes a healthy family :o)

I try to involve my girl (2y/o) in my favorite hobbies... from scrapbooking, photography, and painting to hiking and camping! But, in the rare case when I do have time (or a whole day?!) to myself, I like to just sit back and read a book or go see a (non animated) movie! Sometimes, I do have the opportunity to participate in adult events (wine tastings, food festivals, live bands, massages), but those are far and few between. I was never much into that sort of thing anyways, so it's usually just a special treat.
Like you said, the kid is my hobby--and I love getting her to try new things with me!
I know this is kind of late, but I couldn't help but notice there was no mention of knitting here! This is a craft I've grown to LOVE since having kids, and there are so many adorable things for them (or yourself!) that you can make! There's a great site that has tons of how-to videos at www.knittinghelp.com, if you're interested. :) Also, ravelry.com is a wonderful social site to join, for both knitting and crocheting, where you can find lots of free or inexpensive patterns, meet other yarnies, and see lots of inspiring finished projects. Just thought I'd throw this out there! :)
Hello J. :-) When I'm with a friend we sometimes go to the glacier (I'm in AK) and hike around or we just drive around to see what there is to see and talk about what ever comes to mind. When I'm by my self, I just go walking where ever my feet take me or I go picture taking.
I joined my towns choir, so I get to have mommy time every Tuesday evening :)
I like to hike with friends, either in town along the river or up Pilot Butte, or further out in the National forest if we have half a day or more. I can hardly wait for warm weather!
I can't afford a real spa day right now but just found out our community college has a massage therapy program and made an appointment at the student clinic.
After my second child was born and he was about 18 months I finally got a day to myself. My best friend and I went to brunch, shared some mimosas and then went shopping. After, we hit some art museums. We spent the day talking and laughing.
By myself = I like to read and go for long walks listening to my Ipod.
Metal Sculpture. Had my first show when my baby was 16 months old. Just keep moving. The children should not stop your life.
