I was just wondering what kind of wedding party favors (for the reception) has everyone done for their weddings? I am undecided on what I want to do. I was thinking of the bubble idea but for some reason it just seems to stingy to me. Anyone have any ideas?

What can I do next?

I am planning to have a candy buffet at my wedding. You pick up a bag at the beginning of the line and choose what kind of candy you would like to take. I will also be incorporating this into the decorating scheme.

My husband and I got married in Vegas so I don't have any suggestions from personal experience. But the weddings I have been to have always just had the little tubes of bubbles and candy on the tables. I don't ever remember being to a wedding where there was anything other than that. In fact I've been to a couple of weddings that didn't have anything out for guests.

We had live golfish in bowls on the center of the tables and people could take them home if they wanted and also had hugs & kisses on the table too another idea is beta fish instead of the goldfish. As far as the pictures go we had disposalbe cameras on some of the tables and allowed guests to take pictures at the reception and just developed them ourselves. Hope this helps. C. V

We did not have favors. We gave money to charity instead. We had a lovely placard on each dinner table that matched the theme of the wedding on the table indicated "In lieu of favors, money has been donated to XXXX and XXXX." We also stated on the placard why we had choosen those charities in honor of our special day.

I was just at a wedding where close to the dance floor there was a basket of decorated flip flops for all the ladies in assorted sizes. They were just cheap white Old Navy flip flops with a ribbon and craft store "charms" attached at the "V" of the shoe. They were a big hit and very much appreciated for all of us in high heels!! For favors on the table there were chocolate covered rice crispie bars tied up nicely. They were from a chocolatier in Kansas. They were divine and a nice surprise (something different). Hope this helps.

We did hugs and kisses in some mesh bags that matched the bridesmaids dresses. we attached a Poem to them.

My sister did homemade chocolate lolly pops. We got all the needed supplies at a local cake and candy making store. - Really easy if you don't use the chocolate that needs tempering. all you dois melt it in the microwave and fill the molds. We packeged them in a bag and put a thank you on it.

A friend of mine made little figurines out of clay.

My Husbands friend is in design, she did art designs on some wineglasses for each guest.

We've been to ones where they've given tea in bags with infrmation about the tea and why they chose it.

My cousin just covered the tables with the kind of mini chocolate bars in the mixed bags.

I had a friend that put 3 hugs or kisses on a spoon, covered it with a nice wrap and had a poem about a spoonfull of kisses.

I've seen the hershey bars with one of those personalized covers with their picture/name and wedding date.

Hope these ideas help.

I like the weddings where they scatter some chocolate or mints on the table (or both) and then do a donation on behalf of the guests. (Doesn't have to be big - just thoughtful)My family is big on the cancer research so we have done that.
We wrapped mints in tule for my brothers wedding. We scattered chocolate and gave out wine glasses at mine. (because the hall only had plastic)

Photographer - SAVE THE MONEY - even if the photographer takes a bunch of pictures at the reception you will still have to pay them to get them developed at a WAY higher price... You will get so many other ones from friends and family anyway (at least I did)- If you are going to do the disposable camera thing- I would just give a few out to those you trust! My brother put one on every table at his wedding and they had some really terrible pictures. (Threw out alot)

We did post-it notes printed with our names & wedding date. My husband works in that division at 3M so it was tied into our life.
I've seen ornaments for the tree, individual candy in box or pouch, deck of cards, flower seeds to plant, mini photo frames, candles, mints.

The candy table is a cute idea that our babysitter used at her wedding a few months ago and she said it was a huge hit with guests of all ages. Her hubby loves candy so they worked in the theme of Sweet Love or something similiar.

My sister did a spoon & chocolate hugs & kisses wrapped in tule - "A spoon full of hugs and kisses from the new Mr. & Mrs." on the tag.

Many cute ideas at www.favorwarehouse.com
Ice cream scoop, coffee scoop, bookmarker, cookie cutter, wine bottle stopper. You could do one per family/couple.

Maybe just do bubbles for the kids if they are invited.
Blessings to you and your husband-to-be,
J.

I was also very $ conscience for our wedding. I made chocolates for my wedding. They have the plastic molds at most candy or craft stores. Then, buy the chocolates (I used the round "drops" also sold at the stores that have the molds cause they melt faster and are a richer flavor) You could either do small mints or chocolates in a rose, heart, wedding bells, etc. I decided to make suckers. They were larger rose molds, so I just stuck the suckers in them, then bought the small candy bags and used cute ribbons to tie them off. It was very cute at the top of the place settings, and people seemed to enjoy and appreciate the "homemade" aspect of them. I must say, I also did bubbles, but handed them out with programs so people could blow them at us as we left the church (a better alternative to rice or bird seed). It looked great having us "in bubbles" in pictures. I "fancied" them up by putting tule around them and tying them off with ribbon (using colors of the wedding, of course).
Hope these ideas help. Let me know if you'd like to see pictures of the party favors.

We had individually boxed single truffles from Just Truffles at our wedding. Our cake was a white cake with lemon curd and raspberry filling, so we got white chocolate truffles with a lemon and raspberry filling.

At a recent wedding we attended, the favor was mini cocktail shakers with the bride and groom's favorite martini recipe attached. It was really cute. They also served "their" martini during the cocktail portion of the reception.

Some friends of ours had a fall wedding and their favor was those big yummy apples on a stick drizzled with chocolate, caramel and toffee bits. I think that was the best favor I've ever received -- Yum!

I didn't do any favors. I don't think you should feel obligated to give your guests anything. You are feeding them a lovely dinner and probably hosting a dance as well. If you have an open bar- you are a super host(ess)! Thinking back to the favors I have received, I can tell you that I didn't think that any of them were that great and most hit the trash- ie. bubbles, candy, etc. Although, one couple had little picture frames that were used for your table marker/spot. The guest's name was framed. You could take it home and put a photo of your own in it.

Personalized candy bars are a favorite (or water bottle labels, etc, etc). You personalize the wrapper around a Hershey candy bar. I am a dealer for Occasionography.com, so check it out and let me know if you're interested.

I was at a wedding where they did music CD's which were the couples favorite songs, but that to me was too personal and I never listened to it. I was at another where they did picture frames with a pciture of the bride/groom's engagement photo...which was cool because I just replaced the photo with another. I've heard of people doing those little Yankee Candles, which you can personalize with your wedding info on the label. The frame and the candle would be one per hosuehold. They did a seating assignment and placed the item inbetween the 2 head of households place setting. I was also at a wedding of a flourist and she did a huge flower arrangement for each tables centerpiece and did a fun game to decide who the winner was. The winner got to keep the centerpiece, which was beautiful. (The game was done at one time by the DJ, something like...pass the napkin.) Each place setting had a tiny potted herb for an herb garden and a package of forget me not flower seeds. Just something unique that I saw and are kind of fun. :)

I am going to respond to both of your questions on this one. I have been to many weddings, 3 in the past 2 months. My favorite wedding favors was my husbands cousins wedding. They set up jars and filled them with all different kinds of candy and every table had a little gift bag that you could fill with whatever candies you wanted. It was called a Candy Bar and it was a huge hit. They also had vases with beta fish as their table pieces that everyone could take home if they wanted. We of course got a fish too.

As for the photographer, I have been to several weddings where for the reception they had those disposable cameras on the tables for each guest or for one table. These cameras were used by the guests to take the pictures of the reception. Then they had them all developed and picked out their favorites for their wedding album.

This is kind of weird and different. I know it doesn't fit most people, but thought I'd share anyway. My cousin and her husband both had the last name of Johnson. They got each guest a Johnson & Johnson Band-Aid tin, and filled it with wrapped candy, and put a little note inside "Thank you for making Johnson & Johnson a part of your lives on this day of xx-xx-xxxx"

I handed out flower seed packets. I figured even if people just throw them away, the flowers may end up growing somewhere. My guests seemed to love them.

We got married in Hawaii, then had a small get together picnic/luau style-(we're simple folks!). We bought tropical flavored Jelly Belly jelly beans that we wrapped in tulle and tied with brightly colored ribbons with a small shell. I will tell you that anything you do, prepared to take home (including your decorations and centerpieces!) I guess that's why I like the suggestion of playing a game for the centerpiece!
