What Shampoo/conditioner Do You like for Your Toddler?

I've been using the L'Oreal "2 in 1" shampoo for my dd which leaves her hair "stringy". Which brand do you like? I would prefer something "tear-free". I don't know if it's the fact that I have been using shampoo/conditioner comb (2 in 1) that has been causing this. What do you think? Should I seperate the steps?
Thanks! :)
p.s No Johnson & Johnson recos please. I boycott their products.

What can I do next?

I use the Suave Smoothers. It works really well on my daughters hair and she loves that we dont have to rinse twice since its a 2 in 1. It doesnt leave her hair stringy at all and makes it really soft and clean. I personally love it...and its cheap. Sometimes even cheaper if you catch it at Big Lots.

I just use regular Pantene shampoo and conditioner on my kids hair. I don't like the 2 in 1's. They tend to leave build up. It's worse when you have hard water. Don't think that you have to shampoo everyday. Unless they are getting sweatty or dirty you can just rinse and let them go. They don't have all the oils adults have and so they don't need to wash everday

I use the suave kids, 2 in 1, no problems here. My daughter has longish hair and we don't have any trouble with it.

hi S.,
good for you for stick'n to your convictions ...I BOYCOTT alot of places and products !
now hair : I am a hairdresser .
most children DO NOT need conditioner .; unless:
-abused hair due to over exposed to sun, swim, knots, lack of hair cuts,or unkept locks ..
- or very course and/or curly hair for their age ...
I rec. conditioner starting about age 6 yr.
you simply need a ph ballance shampoo . you are coating
her hair w/ conditioner [your co. shampoo is too heavy for your child ..may be perfect for her friends]
'suave ' makes great coconut shampoo ... try it . a drop will do. if she knots up ; use a spray in contioner only at the knot area [ suave ] also makes a leave in spray cond.

good luck
use a jumbo plastic pic[ buy a bunch $1.00] for any childs hair ... gets the job done fast and pain free. keep in tub and near her hair basket ... teen ager will benifit from this too.

I use the suave 2 and 1 on my boys - works well. For a more" natural"shampoo - you can also try "kiss my face" line of shampoo/conditioners.

Just as an fyi - if you do boycott J&J....you also have to boycott Avenno and Neutrogena. J&J owns both - I worked for J&J for 7 yrs, so I know.

I'm really fussy about natural stuff, so we only use Burt's Bees, California Baby, or J/A/S/O/N. Burt's Baby Bees does have synthetic fragrance in it, if that bothers you.

Hi,

I am a hair dresser that specializes in childrens hair. I would recommend to you what I recommend to my clients. Circle of friends is a salon brand of hair care products for children. I would also recommend NOT using the combo thing. No product can shampoo and condition in one step. If your child would be ok with an adult product then I would recommend Biolage bodifying shampoo and cond. The circle of friends products are all tear free. Another recomendation is make sure you are using a clarifying shamp. with cond. to remove chlorine from your childs hair. Circle of friends has this product. It is called splish splash. Only use this product after swimming. Hope this info helps.

HOORAY FOR THE JOHNSON AND JOHNSON BOYCOTT!!

I use Melaleuca brand products for my children. They are wonderful and have none of the cancer-causing sulfates. They've got body wash and shampoo and foaming hand soap. During the holidays they have bubble bath too.

I love them, my kids love them....and when you see how much you use, they last longer than other brands so cost-wise it all comes out equal. You can check them out at melaleuca's website!

Good luck!

I have problems with my own hair when I use 2-in-1 products. I use separate products and have much better results. For my kids I just use a shampoo.

Sometimes I use Aveeno Baby body wash and shampoo combo. I use a spray-in detangler after getting the kids out of the tub. I use J&J but there are other brands.

aveeno is good. sorry, i do not remember if they are johnson and johnson or not. If your daughter has fine hair then you have to be careful with the conditioners because they will weigh her hair down. I usually use the body wash on the hair and that works out well. I would see about may be doing a leave in conditioner you spray in once you towel dry her hair. take it from someone who has fine hair. good luck.

I agree with everyone who suggested Sauve 2 in 1. I've been using it on my DD for a couple of years now and it's cheaper than the L'Oreal.

I use Melaleuca products on my family. I absolutely can't imagine using anything else. Not only are they highly effective and budget friendly, they are also safer because they don't have the harsh chemicals like formaldehyde (quaternium 15) in. I set up customer accounts for the company. If you would like more info on how to get terrific savings on the products by becoming a preferred customer, I would love to help you out.

S.,
I usually use the L'Oreal Kids shampoo and, right now, the swimmer version is good for us. I have also tried the Suave Kid Shampoo and it's not 2 in 1 so the lack of conditioner might be better as far as the stringiness. (?)

I used a regular shampoo and then a spray on detangler afterwards. Hair will be less tangled if you comb the hair before the bath.
