Title says it all! It's for a girl who I know through church but we're not really close. Thanks!

different people have different means. and different circles of friends have different socio economic back grounds and different expectations. it depends if its a close friend or an acquaintance. It depends if its their first baby. That said I spend about $100 for close friends, $50 for everyone else. Coworkers, and acquaintances, I hit the $15-$30 mark.

$20 in that case for my suggestion. See if she's registered somewhere. Everything on the list will show online on a registry at Walmart or Target so you could see items and their price. With babies, the price doesn't matter as long as it's something you want or need.

if its just an acquaintance and you want to say congrats anywhere from $15 to $25 you can get spectacular stuff in the clearance bins and set it aside for when you have showers to go to. you can give a gift that looks like you spent a fortune but really only spent $10. if its family and you want to spend more go as high as you want. my norm is to spend about $20 but it always looks like I spent $50 because of the great sales.

Hi sally, I don't think a gift should be based on what is a good amount to spend on any kind of gift, it does not sound like your heart is really into getting a gift. A package of diapers are always needed and it
s under 20.00 J.

$30 for her, if it were a close friend/family I'd go as high as $150!

Depends. If you don't like the girl, but you have to buy a gift, $15. You can buy lots at Walmart for $15. If you do like her, buy her what you want, $40 max. Sorry, I had to throw that in, I had to buy for a few people I'm not crazy for. I had to.

I would buy them a pack of diapers. Always something they can use, and if its not the right size or brand, its easy to take back. Good luck!

what you can afford to spend. In my book there is no set amount.

I know my girlfriend who had twin boys 3 years ago? oh my - I think I spent $150! My "niece" whose baby shower was in July and had her baby in October? ebay sales were great - i think I spent $200!

Someone who I knew peripherally? Maybe $25 to $50. It all depends upon my budget at the time as well. So spend only what you can afford.

One of the things that I take into consideration is what type of shower it is. If it's at a restaurant or club and you're being served a full meal, then the gift should cover the cost of the meal. If it's something small at someone's home with cake and coffee, then I'd spend less ($10 to $15) considering this is an aquantaince.

I like to give a gift certificate for a pedicure. It's rare that the mommy-to-be gets a gift and the friends that I've given it to have been super happy :) I will usually buy one for around $30 (you could do less), wrap it in a cute box, and tie it off with a little stuffed animal or something sweet (and inexpensive) for the baby.

$20. to $25.

If I do not know what they need and they are not registered, I purchase a gift card to the nearest Target or Wal Mart.

25-30 dollars for an acquaintance and as high as you are comfortable for a person you are closer to.
