My husband, son and I just moved to the LaCrosse area about 3 weeks ago. What kinds of family activities are there to do in the area? Also, where would you go to get a phone book? Thanks!

What can I do next?

Welcome to La Crosse!
The other posters had good ideas. Also, check out Family Resources http://www.laxfamilyresources.org/ You don't say if you'll need daycare but they have lists of certified daycare providers and LOTS of resources for families. They also have play groups and meet-ups in the parks.
You should be able to call CenturyTel and get a phone book.
Feel free to send me a message if you have any other questions about La Crosse. I grew up here and we moved back to raise our children here. It's really a great area.

M.,

There are LOTS of family things to do in the La Crosse area. Visit www.explorelacrosse.com for area information. Also consider joining MOMS Club - there are three clubs in the area and your exact address determines which one you would join: La Crosse, Onalaska, or Holmen - GET. As for things to do: visit Myrick Park, Hixon Forest, the children's museum, Copeland Park, we are just coming up on "fest" season (starting this weekend with Sunfish Days in Onalaska), the bike trail, and the information just continues.

Welcome to the area! I live in Holmen and work in La Crosse. It's a beautiful area, and it's a great place to raise a family. There are a lot of outdoor activities, like biking and running on the trails, fishing, swimming, and boating on the river. Myrick Park used to have animals, but they've remodeled it recently and I don't know what they have now. In the summer, you can go on trolley and horse rides downtown. Almost every weekend, a nearby town will have a festival with rides and parades (and a beer garden for the adults.) Go to the tourism office in Riverside Park, and check out their pamplets for area activities. Contact CenturyTel for a phonebook.

I hope you like it here!

Welcome to the La Crosse area, M.! This is a great place to raise a family. Go to Coulee Parenting Connection (www.cpclax.com) and check out the calendar of family activities. That's a good place to start. There's also an excellent Children's Museum downtown, Kids Coulee playground at Myrick Park (near the university), and the river trail if you're into biking/walking/hiking. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions or are looking for something specific. Oh, and I'm not sure about the phone book, but I think if you just call CenturyTel, they can hook you up. :)
