Are you taking any B vitamin supplements? Niacin is a B vitamin that can give you a "flush" feeling. I hope this helps.
Hi Ladies,
Everyday around 3-5pm my face will turn red and get real hot. At first I thought I was getting sick and starting to have a fever. That was four days ago and it has happened everyday since. My MIL said it might be hormones but I am 27 and don't know why my hormones would be effecting me. I was just wondering if anyone that is in need of hormones has ever heard of this. Thanks so much!!

This could indicate a blood pressure or blood sugar problem. I would see the doc about it.
I used to get that way and finally figured out that it was that afternoon Coca-Cola (high in phosphorus & caffeine). Try to avoid foods with high fructose corn syrup, MSG, HVP, D & C colors, and artificial anything). Take note of what you eat, there has to be a common denominator. Also, for thyroid health might want to try to take kelp (for the iodine). To check if your levels are low place a quarter size spot of liquid iodine (drugstore) on your belly, let dry(color should stay 24 hours), if it soaks in right away you are deficient. When your skin flares up your body is trying to tell you something (I used to have rosacea). I hope this helps. C

It may very well be hormones. They can be out of whack at any age, especially once you become a mom. I know it sounds crazy, but I was diagnosed as being menopausal with thyroid issues a few months ago, just before I turned 28. I'm working with a naturopath now and things are SO much better already after only a couple of months.
Hi E.,
I recently learned about the Chinese clock system for indicating stressed body systems. According to this system your urinary tract/bladder is stressed. Try taking some cranberry capsules and drinking plenty of water. Cranberry will change the acidity in the bladder. Cut back on caffeine. Let me know if you notice improvement. HTH
Peace, C.
You could run into a pharmacy and check your blood pressure on their machine for a quick check. It is free and easy. cvs, walgreens, walmart, sams, heb, krogers.
It could be rosacea. Do you have any other triggers at that time of the afternoon? For example, does it get warmer in your house at that time? Do you get flushed easily in hot and cold? It's hard to say without knowing if you have ever had any other symptoms, but getting flushed and red could be an indicator of it. The National Rosacea Society has a good website www.rosacea.org with more information.
check your blood pressure and your hormones, Also is it possible that you are expecting.
It could be high blood pressure. Is that the time of day that you are really stressed or tired?
Here is some info on rosacea... http://www.rosacea.org/index.php
I personally think you are to young for premenopause, of course I could be wrong. Here is some info on that... http://tinyurl.com/b6oqc9
It could be an allergy, either environmental - skin creams, fabrics, soaps, or a food allergy - sugar comes to mind... http://tinyurl.com/bkd7ra
Wishing you well,

I am also 27 and my hormones effect me! I would definitely go to your doctor and have your hormone levels checked out! Are you on birth control? If not it could be as simple as you going on them to make your hotflashes go away. Every so many years your body changes and it could be that this is your year to change. If anything go get checked for peace of mind! You,your husband, and your kids deserve it!
I can't say why it's happening, do agree that hormone imbalances can be when we are younger than we think and also can be caused by certain foods. I once read that sugar was the number one cause of hormone imbalance. Also, meat and dairy products affect them. BUT your description reminded me of a time I took a bath with some new gel (from Wal*Mart)and had a terrible reaction all over my body. Well, the next night at the same time I got the rash again and this went on for about 4 days. When I talked with a nurse she said this happens because our skin remembers. My friend just had the same experience after having a severe reaction to something in her yard each day she would break out again at the same time. I was also told by a dermatologist that our skin remembers and we get the "tan" or dark spots again at the season we had them before. Although I don't know if this could apply to you I thought I'd tell you so you can consider if you could have had an allergic reaction to something 4 days ago. I hope you get the right answer to your dilemna. May God bless and heal you, N.
Your hormones can fluctuate at any age. I would find a way to make a doctors appt at have some blood work done just to see what's going on.
Do you feel hot all over or just your face? If it's just in the face, if you're fair-skinned, it may be the start of Rosacea. I started getting it around that age, 27-28 & it just gets worse if not treated. It starts out that way, with flushing & feeling hot or embarassed. If you start seeing little red bumps that 'look' like pimples but are not, that may be what it is. Do you have any other symptoms other than the flushing? If you feel extremely dizzy & nauseated, it may be TSS or heat sensitivity or just hormones. You should see a doctor for their opinion, perhaps an OB would be the one to see if your MIL thinks it's hormones. Good luck!
Sometimes the hormone issue is not "female" related type problem. It could be your thyroid. Go to the doctor and he can run test to check thyroid and hormones. Sometimes stress or alcohol, or certain foods trigger that. I get like that with red wine, even if it's just a sip. Make note of what you eat or drink when this happens then got to the doctor with that information at hand. Make sure you are drinking plenty of water. Water helps regulate your body temp as well. Good luck.
see your doctor. i had this very thing and it was my blood pressure brought on by stress. the more you worry the worst it seems to get. just make the appt, and get it taken care of.
E.,
It could be your blood pressure. That same thing will happen to me if I haven't taken my medicine. Please go get it checked at one of the drug stores.
Good luck!

I agree that you should have this checked out. I have had severe hormone fluctuations for at least 10 yrs and i am 39. Dr.'s have told me for years that i was too young for pre-menopause, yet as i get older and i have the same symptoms(only worse), i know this is my hormones. I also have pmdd and it is always worse before my period. I have begun taking a product called Estrium and it has really helped.
It could be something completely medically different, so go to a doc. I just wanted to share my experience, in case it could have anything to do with it.
You can have a hormone imbalance at any age at all. How's your diet? Did you make a New Year's resolution to lose weight? Are you stressed out at all? Once you have children, your whole make-up is susceptible to fluctuation. Are you taking any medication? Ha ha, I remember taking anti-depressants for one month, and boy oh boy did I have hot flashes! I was about your same age!
If you still can't put your finger on it and it hasn't stopped, you really should see a doctor, if only to identify the source.
I agree with those that are recommending that you go to the doctor and get a check up. It could be your blood sugar levels or high blood pressure both of which can cause serious medical conditions later in life if they are not kept under control.
I am guessing either an allergic reaction to something that you ate a couple of hours before (something new for breakfast) or something that you are putting on your face... new soap? new face cream? OR could you be pregnant? My face did odd color things when I was in the first trimester. These are just guesses... good luck.
It could be hormones- but it also could be the onset of rosacea. Try to notice if you eat or drink something specific at that time of day before or around when your face turns red and hot (Certain spices or warm/hot drinks can be a trigger). Or- is it a time of day that you are particularly stressed? I'd talk to your doctor about it and just make sure what the cause is.
This happens to me a lot, except for the exact timing thing. Mine are usually related to allergies or just getting overheated. I don't understand it, but it happens to me too. Are you doing or thinking about anything in particular at that time of day? Is the temp in your house too hot? Just some thoughts.
You might want to check your blood pressure. Sounds like it could be a time of day that your blood pressure increases. This can be caused, of course, by stress. But, too much caffeine can cause blood pressure increase.
if it is just the skin that is sympomatic, there is a skin condition called rosacea-- look it up and see if you think this matches what you are feeling.
It might be rosacea.
It might be hormones. I went through the change of life at 34, my sister at 36 my mom at 32, my dad's mom at 30 my aunt at 28. I remember I was frustrated because my doctor told me that it wasn't the change my hormone count was still high. Then a older wise woman came into my job one day, we were talking and she told me that doctors aren't always right it takes awhile sometimes for your hormone levels to go down. I hate those hot flashes though you have no control of when they come and go and your face is red at any given moment and you have no control. We were all through having kids me and the women in my family if this is what your going through I hope your through building a family if not, who knows I could be totally wrong. I just thought I'd share my history. Most women don't go through till their 50's. In that I had all the kids I wanted, I love not having a period anymore. I started late like 14 yrs old and stopped early and I really haven't had any complications. Just hot flashed now and then. Good luck, you should go on to the doctor though to be safe.
