What's Your 2-Year Olds Favorite Toy/game/activity?

My son recently turned 2 and I'm always looking for new things to do with him. Every weekend it's a struggle to come up with something - it's been really too hot to take him to the park/playground, so I need to be a bit more creative. He starts preschool this fall, so I look forward to meeting other parents to set up playdates

Thanks for your suggestions!

I take my daughter to a indoor jump place every now and then and she likes it. Also she loves cars so me and my husband just bought her a new power wheels which she can already drive and she will be 2 in september. And let me say her power wheels is her fav. toy right now she just gets in and out of it with her baby doll and purse and keys and then when we have it outside she tries to drive it.

My son is also 2 and loves his alphabet, shapes, and number flash cards at bedtime. During the day his favorites are playdoh and painting.

Take him to the mall indoor playgrounds. Indoor Safari is great if they have one near you. Imaginative community swimming pools for little kids. Play dates with cousins of course. To the library. Once you hit on a subject of interest for him, you may need to check out a book several times in a row. My grandson of that age is stuck on musical instruments and can now answer if an instrument is a woodwind, string, brass, or whatever... Another girl I knew got into dinausaurs. Look for those museums with science sections for little kids. Some of the McDonald's playgrounds are better than others.

My 2.5 yr old grandson ADORES his train set....I recently bought a train table for him and he spends lots of time everyday playing with it. He also loves to go to nature centers, childrens museums, watching softball and baseball games and he loves to go out in the back yard and have us pitch wiffle balls to him to hit with his bat.
Toy trucks are always a sure bet, as well as puppets. Anything that encourages them to use their imagination, Kieran loves to "cook" at his kitchen.
You don't have to spend a lot of money or get really complicated...he just wants to spend time with you!!!

building and knocking down blocks - square blocks, mega blocks

playing with balls - roll them around, toss them into a box or basket

singing songs

playing instruments

catching bubbles and playing in the bathtub

playing with a kitchen set

playing with books that had buttons, played music, etc
