S.P.
My son goes to bed around 7:30 or 8, depending on his day it's eitehr earlier or later, but 90% of tehtime it's 7:30, then he wakes up at 7.
In reading a similar post I saw that many Moms are putting thier little ones down for the night between 6 and 7 pm.
My 8 month olds don't go to bed till between 8:30-9:30...is that okay? They sleep through the night, wake up at 7:00am on the dot, and take a mid morning nap and a late afternoon nap. Sometimes naps are a couple hours, sometimes 45 minutes.
Does this seem like enough sleep? I'm not willing to put them down any earlier because I work full time. If I did I would see them for an hour in the morning and 2 1/2 hours at night...no way! But now i'm worried about healthy sleeping habit.

At that age I have always believed that the babies know what time they want to go to bed. Even now with my two year old-he likes to go to bed at 8-830 and he will sleep till 7-730am and then still take a two hour nap. Little ones know when they need sleep. I say stick to the schedule you have if it is working. You know your children and every child is different. Have a blessed day.
Hi K.,
I agree with Kristina. Try not to compare your kids to other people's, AND, as long as it seems like your kids are well-rested, who cares what time they go to bed? My son is 21 months old and goes to bed around 9:30 every night. That is on average; this does change sometimes, maybe even a couple of times per week, depending on how tired he is. If he has a bad night or doesn't nap well, I aim for putting him down by 9 pm, and there have even been times when he's gone to bed around 8:30. My husband's job is demanding and if he has to work late, sometimes I keep my son awake until 10 pm so he can see his daddy (but this is only if my son seems awake enough to do this.) Maybe I shouldn't say "awake enough"...he almost always seems "awake". I can tell my son is really tired when he starts acting out in a physical way, such as starting to run around the house like a wild maniac (more so than usual) or if he starts getting physically mean, like trying to bite one of my dogs! That's when I know he needs to go to bed earlier than planned.
My son sleeps until 8:30 or 9 am every day, and basically takes a 2 and 1/2 hour nap. Of course he's only human, so these times can vary, but those are the averages we see on a daily basis!
P.S. I do not work and am a SAHM...so why does my son go to bed so much later than other people's kids? Because 7 or 8 just seems WAY too early to me and my husband!! :)
K.,
My first child I worked with and she was in bed at 7 every night because I had to wake her up at 5:30 am. But I've been a stay at home mom since she was 18 months and was pregnant with my second daughter. They both go to bed at 8 and sleep until 7 or 7:30. However, half the time, they are 3 and 1 now, they stay up talking and playing in their room for a half hour or so. Just depends on the day. If you really have a concern you can try talking to the doctor, but our pediatrician didn't say anything about their sleep except that they are doing good. Hope it helped a little.
Have a good day,
J.
your bed time is just fine as long as he's rested......... my 2 1/2 year old goes to bed by 9p, every nitgh and is up by 8a every day and she naps for at least an hour and a half to two hours in the after noons so if that your particular schedule, at least you have one, some mom's don't even have THAT........I'm sure your doing fine :)
My 8-month-old son goes to bed at 930p, and he sleeps through the night. He takes 1-2 naps during the day. I personally feel putting your baby to bed at 6 or 7p is too early unless they have to be up really early. I work opposite days of my husband, so one of us are always here. My kids just wake up when they are ready. So it all depends on your schedule, what works and what doesnt. If your kids are tired, you will know! Have fun with those twins!
The number one thing to remember as a parent is NOT to compare your child to someone elses. What works in your home may not work for someone else and vice versa. As long as your kids under 1 are getting 16 hours of sleep in a day and 14 for over 1, I would not worry at all. My own boys go down for bed around 9:30 sometimes 10and sleep until 8:30 at the earliest and 9:30 at the latest. My 1 1/2 year old takes a 3 hour nap and my 2 1/2 year takes a 2 hour nap. As long as your children are on a consistent schedule and everyone in your household is happy, don't stress!
