Babies R Us is having a trade in sale right now on used baby items. You could take it there and get something new. I don't think you have to trade it for the exact same thing either.
Good luck!
I have a convertible carseat and booster seat that will expire at the end of this year. I am wondering if anyone has any ideas of places that will take them? I hate to just put them in the garbage, but don't want to continue to use them due to safety.

I took mine to an amish community for them to use in the buggy.
If you do throw it away, throw away the base, seat, pads and belts all seperately and cut the belts so they can't be used at all. This is what the police department told us.
Hi K.,
I'm in California, a CHP officer spoke to our Mother's group last year and I asked this question. He said to cut the straps so that no one else will try to use the seat and then put it in the recycling bin.

Cut and remove the harness, remove the cover, and write 'DO NOT USE-EXPIRED' on the plastic. Take it to the recycling center or put it in your recycling with your trash collection. The plastic can be recycled, but if you throw it in your regular trash someone may take it out and try to use it without knowing its expired.
Good for you for knowing car seats expire, and to want to dispose of it properly!
What does it mean for a carseat to "expire?" I've got old carseats and a booster in my eves that are old, but I've never heard of an expiration on them. Are you referring to the height/weight limitations being outgrown? Let me know what you find out about disposing of them, please.
