My son is 9mo.'s old and he is now only eating table foods, he hates baby food and loves to feed himself, And i have starting to run out of finger food ideas, I have not found a food he wont eat (well he used to eat any kinda of baby food but now he hates it)

I give him tons of bite sized veggies and let him try almost anything i am eating (as long as it is not something with a high allergie rate)

but a lot of times what i am eating you need a fork of spoon and he is not good with them yet so i need things he can eat with his hands

any ideas?

Thanks In Advance

Mine is the exact same way. I was worried that he might not be getting all that he needs for nutrition, etc, but then I figured out what might be my best solution, and you might want to try it as well. I know that Gerber and BeechNut makes toddler foods. Really finger foods, pasta, mac and cheese, meats, and veggies. I figure that if the baby food people are making this then it must be better than the food I am giving, loaded with vitamins and stuff that he needs. So that is the route I am going right now. I hope this helps. - K.

My son used to love elbow macaroni or even ziti that I would cut in half. You can also try waffles with no syrup cut up for breatkfast, my son used to eat 2. Not sure what meal you're looking at but hope these help a little. I try to think of some others.

R.,
It sounds like you're doing just fine. You may feel like you're running out of ideas, but at your son's young age, he doesn't need much more than the basics. Fruits, veggies, cut-up noodles, baked potatoes, Cheerios, beans, etc. Of course, you're already aware of the high allegery foods, and choking hazards like nuts and raisins. You could read the book "First Meals" by Annabel Carmel for more recipes, and she has a great meal planner as well. There are many many great ideas in there! If you do check out the parents.com recipes, please remember- no berries yet- not until age one (not everyone is aware of the berry allergy risk. That also sounds like a great site!

Hi,
I started to give my son small pieces of cheese and deli meat along with small pieces of bread for lunch...a sandwich in small pieces. He really liked that. I also give him Annie's Cheddar Bunnies and the Sesame Street brand organic fruit bars. Have you tried mac and cheese? Hope this helps!

Hi R.,
I remember having the same problem when my sons were starting table foods. I recently saw in article in the October issue of Parents magazine. You can go online to www.parents.com and go to the October issue for the whole article. It featured 52 nutritious, delicious, fabulous finger foods. There were some I never would have thought to try them on. Small bites of cherry tomato, sliced blueberries or raspberries, whole-wheat rotini pasta, corn niblets, and avocado to name a few. Try the web site and if you can't find the article email me back and I will give you the whole list.
Good luck!
A.

My son started eating around nine months and he too was ready to eat just finger foods. Here is some of the things that we did and continue to do with him.
Toast bits with soy butter
apple
pear
bannana
mango (this is a big hit)
blueberries
chicken bites
turkey bites
tofu bites
beans of all sorts
brown rice
We also will steam or cook many things and poor it over pasta
like steamed kale that we put in the blender
My son is allegic to almost everything that he can be Milk Wheat Eggs some berries and maybe gluten. So it is tricky to f find things but I hope this list gave you a few ideas.
