Hi Ladies. My oldest niece is turning 16 in mid Dec. I'm trying to decide on a gift that seems special. However, she is a teenager, and doesn't take the best care of things. And it being Dec. we'll also have Christmas and my daughters 5th birthday to but for. Any suggestions?...My only thought was a trendy necklace that could have her name or date engraved on it.??

I found that a charm bracelet is nice. I got one for my niece at Tiffany's but there are nice ones at James Avery also. It is nice because then every year or turning point in her life she can recieve a new one from you to add.
If she is like alot of teenage girls these days, she might perfer the necklace to be silver and not gold. That way it would still be nice, but not as expensive as 14kt gold. One of my nieces (just turning 15 perfers silver or white gold). I am a military wife with 4 nieces - I have given everything from pearls to southwestern jewelry for the Sweet Sixteen Birthday.
I would suggest a charm bracelet from James Avery. They have a specific sweet 16 charm for her birthday this year. Tiffany is really popular with the girls. Some of their silver is under 120. You can also get a tag bracelet wit her name from Blue Nile for 1/2 the price with her name on it. Maybe a small ring with her birth stone in it. A pair of pearl stud earrings. Those can be bought for around 25 dollars, and it's a staple piece of jewelry.
