IS there any other shows on BESIDES Phineas and Ferb? It's been so long since we've watched anything else.

I have a 15 year old son so we watch an odd collection of TV - we do a lot of sci-fi - Haven, Warehouse 13, Eureka, Dr. Who, the Walking Dead ;is about to start a 2nd season - and though it is a bit over the zombie limit - my sister got us hooked on that one.

One the lighter side, and since he is still transitioning from childhood to adulthood we do Sponge Bob, ICarly, and some other family oriented sitcoms. We both like food network and are "Chopped" addicts and Robert Irvine fans.

I also use Netflix for movies and older TV shows.

I stay away from things with overt sexual overtones, sex scenes, and drug themes. We prefer action and mystery and I try to limit our TV viewing to a few shows a week and a movie on the weekends.

All in all, I think TV is harmless entertainment and can be fun for us.

We also watch Phineas & Ferb & 19 Kids...

Sometimes my kids (4.5 & 2) are really into Cake Boss, depending upon what kind of cakes they are making that week--they LOVED the Sesame Street anniversary cake

Like:
The Penguins of Madagascar
Arthur
Wipeout (my kids call it "The Falling Show")
America's Funniest Videos
Bobby's World (sometimes on On Demand)

off-limits for my kids:
Spongebob
The Simpsons, or similar

I have a 10 & 13 year old. They have always watched Spongebob (not sure what the big hubbub is about that show), Phineas & Ferb & Scooby Doo. When they were real little they watched Teletubbies (not sure what the big hubbub was about that show either) & Bob the Builder. Now we watch Dr. Who, NCIS, Modern Family, Top Gear, Wipeout, Merlin and stupid horror flicks.

What I won't let them watch - any preteen/teen Disney show! Talk about inappropriate attitude/behavior by kids! Also, Family Guy or South Park. It amazes me how many kids (elementary age) watch both of these shows! And to this day, they have no idea what MTV or VH1 are! Those channels have always been blocked on our TVs.

Movies they love are Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Jurassic Park & Harry Potter.

*And Spongebob & Teletubbies didn't turn them gay either :) In fact, I asked them one day if they thought Spongebob or Patrick was gay - they looked at me like I had three heads and asked why would I say that and laughed at me!

We don't watch many as a family right now as my kids are still pretty young, but my 4 y/o loves Wipeout! It's kind of hilarious to see how excited she gets and we all enjoy it! If you have a DVR you can fastforward throught the commercials and that's better!

Survivor is our all time favorite! I love that my girls are getting older and want to watch stuff that I actually like. Yesterday we watched an episode of What Not to Wear that I had on DVR. And anything from HGTV. We really like Property Ladder and Moving Up!

We honestly don't watch any actual shows all together that I can think of. My kids are a 16 year old girl who watches stuff like Grey's Anatomy, Switched At Birth, Castle, Dancing With the Stars and a 12 year old boy who watches cartoons, Phineus and Ferb, Big Time Rush and those kind of shows which neither my daughter or I want to sit through. We do sometimes watch a movie together.

I am waiting to hear answers on this because we are looking for some good shows to watch together. Problem is my husband and son(age 10) cannot agree on something they both like. So far they agree on the Simpsons, America's Funniest Home Videos, and kids movies that they have not seen before.
My husband loves news, cooking, and reality shows like Amazing Race, Extreme Home Makeover, and America's Got Talent, but he will not watch any kids cartoons except old Flintstones, especially not the annoying Spongebob. He is tired of science shows like How It's Made. He does not like to watch movies that he's seen before.
My son likes cartoons. Magic School Bus is his current favorite, along with Spongebob, Phineas and Ferb, Handy Manny, Mickey Mouse Club House and many others. He loves science channel shows like Mythbusters, How It's Made, Dirty Jobs, Build it Bigger, and Oddities. He has a screaming fit every time the news is on(even in restaurants). Neither one of them likes sci-fi, sitcoms, or tween shows like i-Carly.
I have forbid them from watching King of the Hill, American Dad, Family Guy, and the Cleveland Show.

My son who is 7 loves pet whisperer and cooking shows. He LOVES Nova so we watch that sometimes. We can check those out at the library. We have to download anything we watch bc we don't have a tv. So we don't watch very often. He likes Science Squad too. There are a lot of great documentaries out there that we have watched together. The whole family watched that movie "Babies" together. Even our daughter who was only 1 at the time seemed to really enjoy it!

Charlie and Lola, Phineas and Ferb, WipeOut, Sorry Charlie (disney), Peep, Shake it Up, and we will try Jessie (coming out soon.)
Also stuff like The Backyardigans (good music, good friendly behavior) . We love the new Electric company which is really interesting and would be interesting to most your kids age group. We watched the old wizards of waverly but now there is too much love/teenage/angst.. We also watch stuff on nick at night like the old Andy Griffith Show and I love Lucy. but even some of the old ones have out dated anti _PC standards.

We like Myth Busters, How it's Made, The Oceans and The Earth series, Blue Planet, Pop Up Video, cooking shows, America's Funniest videos..

We refuse ones that have language or actions we don't support using with family or friends - like the language in Sponge Bob. We don;t watch things that have mature subjects since we have a 4 and 6 year old, so no boyfriend teenage angsty stuff. We don't allow them to see the News. We don't let them see ANYTHING that comes on aimed for adults like any crime, sitcom, medical show, etc. Those are fine for us, but kids imitate and emulate what they see.

When the TV is on, we only watch what is acceptable for the YOUNGEST person watching to see. In your situation if we had it at home, we would only watch things as a family that are appropriate for a three year old (like what I listed above). If it is only your 10 and 11 year old watching they could do more like Wizards of Waverly place, etc.
I know we are strict on tv because they will grow up fast enough as-is.. If we can keep them with things that have language we don't mind in the house and the girls are not dressed in ways we wouldn't let them- we watch it. I figure, you cannot make them UN-SEE something they shouldn't have seen.. (like a scary image on the news or a show that had an image that bothers them.) i figure, since they should be limited on tv anyway, make it something that supports the behaviors and language you do not mind them repeating in the house, because they will!

We watch Phin and Ferb...not mommies favorite.

Survivor...Big Brother...My older one LOVES these two!

The Office...My older LOVES JIM. And my middle guy thinks Steve Carrell Is Michael Scott. So when he sees him on TV or in a magazine he flips out about how he see Michael Scott/

Wipeout....They turn our house into a Wipe out zone...Jumping from furniture to furniture....It is so funny to watch them....

They will also do the Par Core...It is something they did on The Office one time...Jumping on the wall and off things...saying..''Hard core, Par Core''....It is annoying yet flippin hilarious!

We watch Extreme Home Makeover nearly every Sunday evening. It always brings some of us to tears to see the families stories. There are lots we watch on Disney too. I hardly let the kids turn on Nick even though I enjoy watching Timmy Turner, Jimmy Neutron, Danny Phantom, Kimpossible, Fresh Beat Band, Bubble Guppies, Wonder Pets, Backyardigans, ni hao kai-lan, and some others I don't care to sit and watch. But it annoys me that I have to go every other half hour and change the channel off some show I can't stand to OETA or to Disney. I hate how stupid the writers make Patrick. They make him totally ignorant and he's not even cute. I would like the show a lot more if he was just normal or even closer to normal.

I do not allow the kids to watch I Carly due to the character of Sam, she is rude, obnoxious to say the least, she steals food from them, she is not respctful to the parent figures and constantly bullies the other characters. My kids started acting like her and that show is gone.

I also do not allow the kids to watch Shake It Up. Even though I would love to, they take dance and enjoy the music and dancing from the show, however the girls lie to the mother, they sneaked out to attend a party, they leave the little brother with just about anyone to babysit him so they can do what they want, the twins who are exchange students have been in America since kindergarten, according to one of the first episodes where the girls were talking about them being their nemesis since K, they still can't speak even half way good English, geez, how much more can you poke fun at ethnic groups...

So the list goes on, as the kids in the tween shows age the shows become more inappropriate for the kids. It used to be that Wizards of Waverly Place was a cute and fun show, now it's all about her dating who and trying to find who she'll end up with forever....ummm, chances of her ending up with anyone from the high school years is slim anyway. Why focus on dating issues?

And of course Phineas and Ferb are always allowed.

We watch shows together that focus on sharing, caring, being a good neighbor, being a good friend, having standards and morals, and just plain old family values.

We watch a lot of Cat in the Hat, Super Why, and Curious George together lol. My son is still just a little guy (18 mo) so we generally watch his shows in the morning time, and then when my husband gets home we watch our shows.
How I Met Your Mother is amazing, The Office, Wipeout is fun.
