S.P.
You could try putting a maxi pad inside his diaper to help soak up the excess....I had to do that with one of my sons, especially at night.
my son has been going through diapers like crazy. i mean we change him before he goes to bed at night and by morning he is dripping cause he is so soaked. we are changing his bedding and washing his bed daily. that dosnt sound normal to me. i was hoping maybe some mothers could give me some relief maybe you had the same problem. could give me some ideas to what problem it could be. hes drinking 4-5 9 ounce bottles daily. and we are changing his diaper every 30-60 mins. if you could be help me that would be great.
he is in a size 3, he only weighs about 20 pounds. we tried using a size up but he still soaks through them. i even tried putting him in a size 5 cause that is what my daughter is in and he soaked right through it. im running out of idea on what to do.
probably should have mentioned that he is on solids. step 3 which is 6 ounces of food. and he gets 3 ounces of mild on top of the food. so he is eating 2 jars a day so he is only really getting about 2-3 full 9 ounce bottles of milk a day. sorry i forgot to mention that

Both of my sons soak through their diapers quite often. We did switch to using night diapers at night and that does help but not always. When my son was around 9 months he was still waking up at night, I'd change him around 3 AM so he wouldn't soak through. I also found that putting my son in bigger diapers helped to absorb more so I didn't have to change him as often.
9 ounces at a time seems like a lot. 45 ounces in one day is a lot. I'd talk to your pedi, but i'm pretty sure by 9 months of age, it should be more in the 25-30 range? is he eating any solids yet? I just think he is getting a lot of liquid. I agree with the other post though, try going up a size at night. that's helped us in the past.
Go to Amazon, and just get waterproof bed pads.
Get several.
That is what I did.
I still use them under my kids at night/naps.
I REALLY makes it so much easier. Now, I do not have to wash the entire bedding/sheets, ONLY the bedpad.
If leaks occur.
Put the bed pad, DIRECTLY under him.
And yes, try a diaper the next size up.
When my kids were babies, I always changed their diaper during the night. At least once. Because if not, the diaper is WAY too full, by morning.
It never woke up my kids. When I changed them. I just did it in the dark.
Try nighttime/overnight diapers. We had to start using those by the time my son was about 6 months old. Before we made the switch there were a few weeks where I was changing his crib sheet everyday.
Once we made the switch to night time diapers I rarely (I can't actually remember the last time I had to change his sheets in the morning).
Definitely worth the extra cost in buying nighttime diapers.
When we started using them he was drinking 8oz before bed and keeping that diaper on for about 12 hours.
Huggies starts in size 3 and pampers in size 4, with my son once we was close to the next size weight wise we had to move up to size 4s to keep him dry overnight.
What kind of diapers are you using? If I use any brand other than the pampers nightime ones I have the same problem. For nightime use, you could try putting him in the next size up, I know that helps a lot.
My daughter is the same way, and has been forever. She drinks between 8 - 12 glasses of water/juice/milk whatever everyday. She even filled up an overnight diaper in an one and half hour period! So I wouldn't worry to much about it. Some kids are just like that, my sisters son in complete opposite he will hardly drink anything, and doesn't go potty enough. Trust me you want to be on our end of the spectrum.
My LO one is drinking about 6 4 oz bottles a day and eating her solid foods 3-4 times a day and he is only 7 months old. If you haven't started feeding solid foods yet I would try. Your son not having as much liquids should help out a bunch.
My son was soaking through his regular diapers at night so we switched to Huggies night-time diaper and haven't had the problem since. Also, at 20lbs I would use size 4 rather than 3. Have you tried different brand of diaper? The brand you currently use may not be a good fit for him. As he gets a little older, he will empty his bladder less frequently so instead of peeing every 20-30 mins, he will pee every few hours. That way, you will need to change him less often, at more predictable times. Hang in there!
Have you tried the huggies overnights? i use target brand diapers because they are way cheaper, but when my son went through a stage like the the huggies overnights worked GREAT!! My daughter drinks a lot to and just turned one. She finally is to the point where she does not pee out her diaper very often anymore, but she was the same way to. Is he still waking up for a bottle at night? He will outgrow it eventually but in the meantime try an actual overnight diaper and see if that helps a bit. Good luck!
My son did that same thing during a few stages so I-
-Went up a ze in diapers when necessary.
-Tried all different brands until I found one more absorbent (I liked Kirkland brand and Huggies).
-I did a last min daiper change right before bed and I mean right before.
Did that every night
-I put a diaper pad down under the fitted crib sheet then another diaper pad down w/another fitted sheet on top so if he soaked through all I would have to do it take off one fitted sheet and the bed pad. Clean sheet and diaper pad were already on and so once I took those soiled ones off I could lay him back down.
That's a lot of liquid. I would start with having your ped check him out and especially, test his blood sugar to be safe. It could be he is going through a growth spurt, but I would first see the ped. I'd also ask them how much liquid is appropriate, ie. you don't say whether he is drinking breast milk/formula, juice, water, etc. Babies really don't need juice and if you give it once/day, water it down. If he's drinking a lot of that, that could explain how much he is drinking. With this baby, I won't be doing juice but once in a while with what I know about diabetes. One glass of juice is the equivalent of breakfast or half a lunch or dinner. Lots of sugar. Good luck!
We use the huggies night time daipers and it helps, but my son often wets through too. Fo a while now I've been thinking I need to look into finding insert pads you can put into diapers. If anyone knows where to get them, that would be helpful.
