What is the best diaper rash cream you've used? My son has a mild rash on his butt cheeks and i want it to heal and stay healed. Ive used A & D and Desitin and Aquaphor but was wondering if there is something better.

Balmex is my favorite! It literally will reduce redness in one diaper change! It has more Zinc Oxide as Triple Paste at 1/2 the cost. It also neutralizes irritants in a dirty diaper so that will not effect the skin! I have also used it on my daughters and my own thighs for chaffing from wearing wet bathing suits and walking around all day and notice a huge improvement right away!

Here is a link to a $1 off coupon for it. http://balmex.com/offers.html

Good luck and blessings to you!

Boudreaux's Butt Paste hands down. My daughter had diaper rash really bad and after trying everything out there this was the only thing that cleared it up.

My kid's doctor told me to add Triple Antibacterial ointment to my diaper cream. I did it (added good amount of cream and then a squirt of the antibacterial ointment) and the rash disappeared really quickly.

As a preventative, you can always add Aquaphor to his butt when he doesn't have it (as a preventative measure)

We swear by triple paste. It costs a bit more but really works for us.

When my son was an infant the only thing that worked (and I tried Butt Paste, Triple Cream (I think that's what it's called) and a host of other organic creams) was Desitin in the purple tube (box). I noticed you already tried Desitin, but maybe it was the blue tube, which I don't think is as strong.

I love A&D ointment-for all rashes- and had a tube for many years since my kids didn't get too many rashes. Now I have a tube of the blue Desitin that my daughter does not seem to like. Anyway, I got a sample of some cream from Lansinoh and that stuff is fantastic. My d had a really bad rash one time and it was gone in the morning. Not everything works for everybody and I know that some people refuse to use anything with lanolin but for us, it worked great. I just keep forgetting to look for it in the store.

I use Triple Paste. For severe diaper rashes, I use other products under the Triple Paste (such as Lotrimin anti-fungal cream.)

Hands down, the best diaper rash cream is the Bum Boosa brand. It is the combination of herbs and essential oils. Plus there is some zinc oxide in it. One jar last me a loooong time, too.

Most importantly make sure he is dry before you apply any cream, otherwise you are sealing the moisture in.

My son was sensitive to the zinc in most diaper rash creams so we have used A&D ointment. They also used it on my daughter in the neonatal unit. My children are fair and we have had no severe diaper rashes. I put it on every night and whenever I notice any redness.

I use A & D and purple Desitin and they seem to work best every time my son gets a rash and that's not that often. On a regular basis I use Butt Paste, just love the stuff. Balmex is good too.

I've always loved A&D. I think it's the best one (in the yellow and brown tube). It smells so good, too. ;-) It's like Teflon, and nothing sticks to their bottom, so it cal heal.

Also, if it's on the cheeks, I am wondering if it's a heat rash. Maybe try just letting him go around with no dipe for an hour or two a day. I did that, too, and it works so great. Nothing on the butt, just clean skin to the air will clear it right up. Stay in the A/C and keep him out of humidity.

A&D Ointment by far! I still use it for chapped lips, rashes and other problems here and there. Also, Lansinoh works as the best burier and soother. It is made from the world's purest Lanolin. I used it when nursing, ran out of A&D so tried it, and it worked great. Again, another handy item to always have on hand even though we don't do diapers anymore.

No question: Burts Bees. You barely have to use any of it.

You are going to laugh at my answer but I will tell you it is great. I used Bag Balm. http://www.bagbalm.com/ Not sure if it is available at Walmart, but I know it is available at places like Farm and Fleet and many drug stores. Take a look at the web site and you will see that it is made in the USA and is natural.
Stop and think for just one second, if you know anything about cows, their bags and utters are very tender and when they get chapped or get a rash (and they do) that is what farmers use. A babies bottom is just a tender as a cows bag. You are probably laughing out loud by now but I am telling you that if you clean your babies bottom, dry it, put this on, it will repel moisture while healing just like it would the tender cows bag and utters. I used it and it did work, even when my son had an allergic reaction to an antibiotic and ended up with what is called an acid rash.
Try it I think you will be pleasantly surprised at how well it works.

Good Luck,
S.

I like Butt Paste. But, for more severe rashes, Triple Paste works better.

L.,

We tried desitin, aquaphor, balmex, triple paste, store brands, and vaseline, but NOTHING worked as good or as fast as Burts Bees Diaper Rash Cream. It is all natural and has a lot of zinc in it. My daughter gets diaper rash almost instantly after having a BM when it isn't solid (sorry if that's TMI) and the Burts Bees Cream clears it up in one application. It is about $8.00 a tube, but a little goes a long way...besides it is worth it when it works in only one application.

We use vasoline on a regular basis. and then desitin if he has a rash. It has worked well for us.

Keep in mind that, while one child responds wonderfully to one product it might not be the best for another. To that end (no pun intended!), we have always found success with Triple Paste. Yes, it's expensive but it did the job better than any product we had previously used.

You can get it pretty much anywhere. We got ours at CVS along with a box of latex gloves because it's just really gross when it gets under the nails. Using the gloves also helped apply the Triple Paste rather liberally.
