When Do Babies Start Teething?

My daughter Rhiannon is 2 1/2 months old, and when I took her in to the pediatrician for her 2 month check up and shots, her doctor told me that she's teething. She's drooling a lot, and trying to chew on anything that she can get into her mouth. I was under the impression that babies get their teeth later on - around 9 or 10 months. Anyone have any information?

What can I do next?

My daughter started teething at 2 months old.....but her first tooth came in around 4 months. I had to buy a bunch of bibs and keep changing them throughout the day. It saves their clothes from getting soaking wet. Do not be surprised if you have to change them every 10 minutes. I bought the big packs from Wal-Mart.....I think there were 10 bibs for around $6. I found I liked the ones with the plastic backing because they didn't get as soaked nearly as fast. I also bought a few soft teethers and let her hang onto those. They seemed to help some. Tylenol and teething tablets seemed to work the best for any pain. I found the teething tablets in the baby aisle at Albertsons.....they also sell them at Walgreens and CVS. Just ask for teething tablets and they'll know what you mean.

Hope this helps....:)

Hi there.. I have known babies to be born with teeth and I have known babies not to get teeth until after thier one.. Teething does not nececerraliy mean that they will have teeth soon.. it may mean that she is cutting her gums and her gums are sore from the teeth trying to come through.. maybe 5 more months before you see teeth.. Drowling is no fun, but its only a good thing to see your baby on the right track!! :)

My cousin was born with one of his bottom teeth half way in. Mine's been teething since 2 months, 4 months now but no teeth up yet. Dont be suprised if it takes a while to actually see the teeth, they often go up and then are down the next day. I have a molar that does the same thing. Generally teething starts around 6-8 months old, some of us have overachievers.

My daughter started teething when she was three months old and got her first tooth when she was four months old. Its normal so don't worry. Every baby is different.
