Hi moms! My original question was going to be Christmas idea gifts for the teachers at my daughters' daycare, but going through the archives, I found alot of great ideas! Now what my question is, Is when is the best time to give the gift to the teacher? I know that in the morning when we get their, not all the teachers are their yet. (It's a very small center with 2 directors & 4 teachers) And when I pick them up in the afternoon, some of them have left for the day. Anyway, we're planning on getting something for every worker, something a little more special for the 2 that care for our children directly & for the direcor & asst. director. Anyhow my girls are 28 months & 18 months old, so should I just have them hand it to each of them themselves or should I hand it to them? Should I do if 1st thing in the morning (I know at this time, they are busy getting the kiddos settle, ready for breakfast & all) or should I wait when I pick them up for the day (I know they're busy getting the kids ready to leave) or should I plan on making a special trip during the day when I know everyone is their & I won't cause too much of a distrubance? I may be looking into this too much, but just would like some feed back. Also, if you are or have been in the daycare business, what do you think is best? TIA to all who help!
When I was a teacher I love to get them in person. If not possible jsut leave them on there counter with a nice note or card. But leave it in the morning! It really does not matter, they are going to apprecite it no matter what time you give it to them.
Personally, I would probably make the special trip to make sure that every worker gets their gift. I also try to hand deliver the gifts that my kids give their teacher. Hope this helps a little.

The girls are too young to be trusted to remember to hand teachers their gifts. (I have a 4th-grade son, and this is the first year he'll give his teachers presents by himself.) I would make a special trip. It would mean more to the teachers and directors and won't get overlooked in the crush of other activities. Part of giving gifts is to make people feel special anyway.
I would leave all of the gifts in the morning. Gifts are a distraction for children at this age. There wouldn't be a good time in the middle of the day.
I would say to drop them off in the morning. Let the center hand them out as the teacher gets a break, so she can open it and enjoy the excitement of getting a surprise WHEN SHE HAS TIME. It is after all, her place of employment, and she can't just stop to open a gift from 10-15 different parents and still give the kids the care they need.
Imagine if all the parents dropped gifts off say, the last two mornings before holidays.......... The kids may wonder .... why didn't I get one, how come my teacher keeps leaving class? What if one of the parents can't do a gift for the teachers- all of them. They may feel like they have to if they see other parents making a drop off to specific teachers. If your center has caring teachers, and they sound like they do..... I think they would appreciate the dropoff plan, and they will be able to give you a proper thank you, when they see you next.
Hi L.!! It might be a good idea to ask them "when is Nap Time" so you can come by while the little ones are resting and that way, they can give you their full attention. Do daycares have naptimes??
My son and my nephew go to the same day care so we go in half and purchase a gift for all the employee's. Hanging around in the mornings just does not work for anyone because everyone is on a time crunch. What we do is one the day that they are having their christmas party we bring all the gifts in with the teacher's names on them and give them to the director and she hands them out to the teachers for us on her time when things settle down. We get the thank you's and your welcome's in at a later time but this helps from disracting the teachers from there work. We have done this for the past several years and for most holidays and it works quit well.

As a former childcare worker, present the gift personally to each of the caregivers. They will appreciate it immensely.
I used to be a preschool teacher and from my experience I would say take it up there to them. It wasn't the gift that made my day, it was the thought that these parents knew how hard I worked with their kids. The best gift was always something that the kids made for me too.

I would leave them with the director with a note and name for each. If the idea of them seeing some got a special gift and others didnt then hand each out while droping them off. You can leave it on there desk if they have one or a special section of the class room that is the teachers??
