When to Wake, When to Let Sleep???

My little one is almost 4 weeks old and I feel like I'm always having to interrupt her catnaps to feed. I'm trying to stick to nursing her every 3 hours during the day and longer stretches during the night if she's sleeping (but no longer than 5 hours). Hasn't really happened yet. My question is....during the daytime, when do you wake a sleeping baby and when do you just let them sleep??? I know babies this young can't really be put on a schedule, but what should her day typically look like as far as eating and sleeping go? I'm trying to follow BabyWise as well: eat, wake, sleep

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Let her sleep. As long as she's thriving there is no reason to wake her to feed her. Enjoy the down time!

At this age I would not worry about waking her to eat she will wake up on her own when she is hungry. I assume by this post that you are nursing so if you are starting to get uncomfortable just pump a little bit to relieve the pressure till she wakes up to eat.

NEVER wake a sleeping baby! She'll let you know when she's hungry. Congratulations!

I let my baby sleep and eat when she wanted. We did "demand" feeding and it worked well for us. She was sleeping through the night at 4 months old and I nursed her for a year. Personally, I didn't like the babywise book. My kid always fell asleep nursing and it worked for us. She's now almost 2, sleeps 12 hours at night and takes a 2-3 hour nap in the afternoon. She's happy and healthy.

As long as she is healthy and a normal weight there is no reason to wake her. Try feeding her on demand and see how it goes.

You sound like me with our first one. By 8 weeks he was sleeping the night but because of what I was told in the hospital I was waking him every 2 - 3 hours to feed. I told the nurse at one of the well check ups and she laughed and told me to let him sleep. He will let me know when he is hungry.
