And I recommend getting there an hour before it opens, around 9am. Since you have little ones, parking close by is a must...the place is huge! Otherwise parking will be a nightmare. And make sure you park on official fair ground parking. The parking outside of the fair walls can be dangerous, and you take a chance on getting your car stolen or broken into. Basically park inside the tall iron fence.
The fair is off of I30 just south east of downtown Dallas.
If you get on 635 and go towards Dallas, then exit on 30 going west, you will see signs for "Fair Park". Fair Park is where the fair is.
Off of I-30 pass downtown Dallas. You can see the big wheel from the interstate.
It is a Fair Park in Dallas, if you google it you can get directions
This website will tell you all you need to know
Just a heads up, we went to the fair last year and hated it! I understand it's supposed to be crowded but we were literally just bumping into people left and right and would easily get separated from my husband by pushy people. There was a lot of rude inconsiderate people and I'll NEVER go back. That of course is just my opinion and my experience. My advice is to bring a stroller for both of your kids and hold on tight to them. I wouldn't let your 3 yr old walk with you because he can easily be lost or taken in that crowded hectic place!
Take Care, be safe and I hope you don't have the same experience I did.
I see lots of links to the fair info for you. Just a quick note: If you get a newspaper there are coupons for an extra $2 off tickets at Kroger, they're also already discounted at Kroger vs. buying them at the gate. I recommend going during a week day, it's less crowded and you get a chance to enjoy it.
