I live in las vegas, closest to centennial hospital. My three choices to deliver at are mountain view, centennial and summerlin. I dont know much about mountain view or centennial..but summerlin is where my doctor would like me to deliver, but my only problem with summerlin is how busy it is. i've had a few friends not get their epidurals in time because the wait list was so long...any suggestions? has anyone delivered at centennial or mountain view? please share your experiences. my main concern is getting that epidural! and making sure it works!

What can I do next?

I delivered both of my kids at Summerlin. My first was delivered in June 05 and was a great experience. My second was delivered in August 07 and was terrible. I was in labor dilated to 5cm and the nurse sent me home telling me only to come back if I had an arm or leg hanging out. (Not kidding) By the time I went back, I was dilated to 7cm and barely had time for an epidural. I delivered my son in three pushes. They barely had the room set up. Then I got sent up to the 3rd floor after my delivery. I felt bad because most of the patients up there were older and here I had a newborn crying every few hours around the clock. I felt forgotten about being on the 3rd floor too. I opted to go home a day early. Most people that I have talked to that have delivered in August have said that it is a really busy month so that may have been part of it. I am definitely thinking of delivering my next one at a different hospital though. Good luck with your decision and your delivery!

I delivered at Centennial on the 22nd and loved it. Even though that day they had all the delivery rooms filled (they only have 7), I felt as though they were very attentive to all my needs. Once I decided on getting an epidural, it took no time at all. My nurse and the newborn nurse were very helpful and friendly. Everyone there was so nice, even the staff that brought the meals. The only problem with Centennial is that they do not have a level 3 NICU unit. So, if there is something wrong with the baby, they would have to transport it to Summerlin. The reason that they don't have one yet is that the hospital has to be open for 3 years before they can apply. Hope this helps!

We delivered our 2nd daughter at Mountain View and it was so busy-they had no more delivery rooms!! They stuck me in what they called "the broom closet" a tiny little room w/all of the broken down equipment--what a joke! (believe me I wasnt laughing at the time)! hahaha! I think Las Vegas in general is so crowded & busy, its just a chance you take wherever you end up going! Good luck to you!

I have only had experiences at Mountain View and Summerlin Hospitals and I can tell you there were NOT postive. I live in Providence right by Centennial Hills and everything I have heard about their L&D has been FABULOUS! If I were not done with having my kids I would choose a Dr. just to be able to deliver there. Take the tours that each hospital offers because that is your best bet. Mnt.V. doesn't ONLY offer private rooms it's more the luck of the draw. I had a terrible experince with my first child there and was left very unhappy about the way my delivery was handled. I have only ever been in the ER @ Centennial but it is so much quicker and much less crowded than any of the other hospitals in Vegas. The perks that they offer to new moms at centennial are nice as well...in the end you should really take the tour. Hope that helps!

Hi C.,

I delivered at Spring Mountain and loved it, the attention I got was supper and the atmosphere was excellent (very secure). I know someone who delivered at Summerlin and she said she would never go back, the nurse were nasty and that it was super busy. My other friend delivered at Mountain View and she loved it. I have not heard anything about Centennial. Good luck.

Hi C.,

I delivered at Mountain View and the Staff there is great! You are well attended to, you'll get your own room after delivery and the enviroment is great too. I chose Mountain View for the same reason you are doubting Summerline. A Friend of mine delivered at Summerlin and she said she'd never do it again.
