I don't care for Goodwill myself but there is Knox Area Rescue Ministries. There are women's shelters all over, you'll have ot look in the phonebook. There is also the salvation army.
We moved to TN in June and I am going through the last of our boxes (ugh...took long enough, huh?). Does anyone know where I can donate clothing (adult men and women) to a good cause? In my old town (in NY) we could donate to a battered womens shelter or something of the like. Is there anything like that here in West Knoxville? If not, where else could I bring them? I would hate to just throw them away. Thanks!

You can donate it to Salvation Army or K.A.R.M. Goodwill will except them too!! If they are name brand clothes there is a place called Planet Exchange that will take them. I am not sure where the location of our Women's shelter is, I believe it's off of Central Ave. though, check the phone book to be sure.
There is a wonderful nationwide organization called Freecycle. Ever heard of it? There is a local knoxville chapter. You sign up at Freecycle.org and then anytime you have anything you want to get rid of instead of throwing it out you post it on the board and people who could really use it will get in touch with you. There are thousands of members in the Knoxville area and you will get tons of responses from people who can really use the clothes. :)
Hello Jackie - Knox Area Rescue Ministries has a "Thrift Store" that accepts donations It is located in West Knoxville odd of Cedar Bluff or Parkside Drive. It is located on 115 Sherlake Ln, Knoxville, TN and their number is ###-###-####. If you have big objects, you can schedule a time where they will come and pick it up from your home...
I would go with the Knox Area Rescue Ministries, or SAlvation Army. Also if you are in Knox County We have a PTA clothing center the school board or the PTA supports this. What it is you donate clothes and anytime a child needs the clothes and they cannot afford them you can take your child there to get what she/he needs. You can contact the Knox County board of Education on this and they will tell you where to go or what to do. IT is called pta clothing center.
I think it is great that you are donating...
