So What Happened?

I appreciate all the quick answers. They were exactly what I was looking for. We went to Hillcrest. I learned a few things. 1. Go earlier in the fall-- many of the apples were rotten and off the tree. 2. Go early- we did and the masses came later-- when we left, there was a 3 1/2 mile wait of cars waiting to park - on the hwy.
3. It was a bit of a circus- more than what I am used to. I went to orchard in upstate ny yrs ago and you would drive to the rows. and appreciate nature- this was a circus and super yucky.
4. we won't go back there. but appreciate the recommendations really. nothing against any of you. thank you for the quick and kind recommendations.

We go to Hillcrest Orchards every year. They're having their fall festival right now, so there are pony rides, kids' activities, apple picking, pig races, and the best apple cider doughnuts you ever had. It's in Ellijay.

For apple picking head to Ellijay in N. GA -Gilmer County. Mercier Orchards near Blue Ridge is nice too. Call ahead though and see what hours they have, etc.

My highest recommendation is for Southern Belle Farm in McDonough GA. It's FANTASTIC!!! Hay rides, huge slide, giant corn maze, a REAL pumpkin patch where you go pick your pumpkin off the vine, a cow train, farm animals, a corn cannon and pedal go carts are some of their offerings. It's pretty and so much fun! Burt's in N. GA is a crowd scene and their pumpkins cost a fortune! They're also already picked and they don't have nearly as many activities as they do at Southern Belle. It's south of Atlanta -about 40 minutes. Have fun! I've sent tons of people to Southern Belle and everyone has always had a blast. We go every year! Look on their website because they also have bonfires at night on the weekends. Our boys are still too small and go to bed early, but I can't wait to try that.

Try Cagle's Farm for corn maze and hayride with bonfire at the end. I also like Burt's Pumpkin Farm which is not far from Amicoloa Falls State Park.
