Is there a community pool or park where you can rent it out for a private party. Or maybe a roller skating rink?
Good luck and have fun!
Hello,
I want to throw a bday party for my son who is going to be 6. I am not having it at my townhome b/c it is 2 small. I don't want it inside like Jump Zone or Chuck E Cheese b/c it will be summer...but is there a nice place to have a bday party where it is inside and outside or some other idea? Greatly appreciate any ideas...Thanks!

In our area we have two nice "park districts", one run by the county, the other by our township. Both have nice pavillions that you can reserve for parties, many of them are right next to a playground or open field where you could play games or sports. They also usually have those grills, so you could bring charcoal and grill out if you were so inclined... Check with your county...
We're having a park party for my twins this weekend. It was $20 an hour plus a $100 refundable security deposit. We can't guarantee others won't play at the park, but we get the pavillion area and grills to ourselves for the reserved time. Pool parties are fun, too. Our park district offers them. If there aren't a lot of people, you could do a location picnic. We took the train to picnic at Millennium Park for a small kids/family party. Up to 3 kids ride for free with each paying adult and she got the $7 unlimited weekend Metra passes. It was great...like a field trip. She had 3 choices in sandwiches, juice boxes, chips, and fancy bakery cookies. It was unique & fun!
My daughter went to a birthday party at the Bolingbrook Park District. There was both an indoor & outdoor waterpark and they served pizza & cake. I think it was all part of a party package. They only used the indoor waterpark because it was a cooler day. The birthday girl was also turning 6. Many parents, including myself, stayed at the party so I'm sure that was helpful. Most of the area they were allowed to use was not deep enough that the water was over their heads. There were quite a few lifeguards and they seemed to do a good job of watching the kids, especially near the rope where the water was a little deeper. I have heard that the waterpark in Yorkville is nice too but I haven't been there. Good Luck & Happy Birthday to your son!
How about a park or county lake? I would think either one would have a pavilion where if it rained or was extremely sunny you could get out of it yet give the kids freedom to yell and scream and run around like kids do best. Does a church in your local area have anything of the such? Or what about McDonald's if they have an outdoor play area. You wouldn't necessarily have to do a McDonald's party, but just use their play ground.
How about checking with the Park District. I know ours has the playground area and a shelter for cover. They also rent rooms.
What about a bowling alley? brunswick zone? a nature center? a park? we are struggling with the same thing. The jump zones just do parties so well!
My son's bday is in June, he is turning 7 and is really, really looking forward to Toy Story 3 that is coming out on June 18th, so we are making that his party. Our local movie theater will reserve a block of seats, give them a tour of the projector room, and set up tables that are roped off in a section of the lobby. I am allowed to bring in my own pizza and cake. It will be the easiest party I have ever thrown - just bringing the food, paper goods and party bags! Check your local theatre!
