Where to Take Swim Lessons??

Hi ladies...
We have two girls, that I'm embarrased to say, have never taken swim lessons before. They are 5 (almost 6) and 3 (almost 4,) very athletic and have both been in gymnastics since they were 18 months old. They both love the water, but do not know how to swim.
For those that have children in swim classes: Where do you go? How much is it? Who are the best instructors? How long have your children taken lessons there? Are the showers/facilities clean?
We live on the north end of Seattle near Mill Creek/Lynnwood/S Everett. And we don't want to drive too far over the summer....so places that are close would be great!
Thanks so much!!!

So What Happened?

Thanks for all the help!! We signed up at West Coast Aquatics. We will be able to have both girls in class at the same time, but with different instructors.

Both of my girls took lessons there. They are relatively affordable, close, and I LOVE their instructors. They are super friendly, and really, really good at tailoring instructions to the level of the child.
HTH!

A.,

Check out the YMCA in Bothell off of Beardsley/195th (from 405). We have been members there for about a year and a half. Registration for the next session is about to begin the price is anywhere from $21 to $63 depending on if you're a facility member or not. The Y also has scholarships if, like us, you are a low income family.

I was just recently added as a swim instructor, so I'll be shadowing more experienced teachers and learning from them before I teach on my own.

Your older daughter would be either a polliwog or a pike (beginning levels), and your younger would be a pike as well. If you or your kids aren't keen on the idea of being in the water by themselves there is also a parent/pike class where you can get in the water with them.

As for instructors M. does the parent/pike class and she's awesome. She's the one that encouraged me to apply for teaching. Krystal and Amanda are also good instructors. My son (4 1/2) has had both and learned the most from both of them.

Because the Y is a full gym sometimes the locker room collects used towels all over the place, but the shower are clean, and warm. There are 5 open showers, then a whole bunch with curtains. Overall I'm pleased with the way everything looks there.

Hope this helps,
Melissa

My step sister alway took her kids to the YMCA. She lived in Mulkiteo, so I don't know which one she took them too.
I live in Lake Stevens, and the High School offers swim lessons there. But if I lived closer to a YMCA, I would take my kids there. The prices are pretty reasonable.
