Which Convertible Car Seats Fit Rear Facing in Mid Size Car?

I use the Britax Roundabout rear facing in my Pontiac Vibe, and we LOVE it! It has the highest safety ratings. Good luck!

I have an Alpha Omega in a Ford Focus (Not the station wagon)
and it fits comfortably.

I have the Britax roundabout in my mid sized car, and it fits great. OK, they are not cheap, however after much safety research this is the one I decided on ....could not put a price tag on my sweeties safety....especially in a smaller car.

We have a Maxima and the Britax Advantage worked GREAT!!! I think they have come out with a new model now but should work fine. We are currently using 2 Wizards, I think it's now called the Boulavard, with great success.

As far as comfort, I'd say it can't be beat. We used a rented carseat to take my 9 mo daughter to Memphis, 4 years ago, and by the time to drive home she would not sit in the carseat. The 8 hr drive took 15 because she was so uncomfortable. The Britax have given us NO problems. We've since taken both of our daughters on the 8 hr trip and they've done great, in the Wizards.

In my book the cost is worth it. The covers come off pretty easy and wash up great. Our almost 5 yo Advantage looks like new with the cover just washed. I was very surprised and pleased.

Britax is the best. You can take them out of Babies R Us and try them in your car before you buy them. Ask the manager for help. Make him help if you have to. Get a basket and take a few of the floor models to your car and see what fits. I have the Britax Wizard it is 2 years olds. I have it in a sedan. Good Luck.

Some friends have the Cosco Alpha Omega rear facing in their Camry.

All I will say is DONT get the evenflo tribute! We have one of those and it stinks! We have two Alpha Omega's in our other vehicles-the tan one that's like 99.99 at BRUS and the blue/black one that is 139.99. I like the blue/black one better, but prob not $40 better in hindsight. They have a small base and install easily. I could, hoever only use them in the middle of my explorer when rear-facing (which you're supposed to anyway). I did the math on the Britax's. Yeah, they go up in weight way higher, but when you put the cost of a convertible and a booster together it's about the same. Plus, I decided I want a NEW booster without food and barf and all that icky stuff on it after awhile LOL! : ) Good luck!

My name is M. and I'm a Child Passenger Safety Instructor. I worked for a local children's hospital for many years helping parents learn the proper use and installation of their safety seats. From my experience, I have not had a problem with convertibles fitting in your vehicle. However, installing a rear-facing convertible is the most difficult of all the installations, so I would lood for a certified CPS technician. Look on www.safekids.org website to find a technician in your area. Be careful when asking advice for advice from sales people or neighbors...they are well meaning but generally give bad information. I would look for a seat that is narrow at the base.

As a parent myself, I know I want my baby to comfortable and safe while riding in my car. My son has the Britax Boulevard. The Britax seats are excellent seats and easy to use. However, they can be tricky to install-especially rear-facing. Also another popular seat is the Alpha Omega. It is even more difficult seat to install rear-facing. Look for a seat that fits into your budget and that you will use correctly every time.
