Which Would You Recommend?

My DH has a private marriage and family counseling practice in Allen. Our accountant just recently recommended that we get a financial program to keep his books on the computer. The only ones I've heard of are Microsoft Money and Quickbooks. So, do you know anything about either or both of these programs? Which would you recommend? Why?

Thanks, ladies!!

I use Quickbooks Pro for my business and really like it. It is pretty complex though, and I would recommend going to the bookstore and buying the manual if you don't have any experience with it.

I've used both before - and I personally prefer Quickbooks. My suggestion to you is to try out the online version of Quickbooks and see how you like it. I think there's a 30 day free trial, and then you can continue with the online version for about $20 a month (this is what I do for my company). Money, in my opinion, has too many other things going on with it and is really a product that started out as geared to an individual, not a company. But really, this is my opinion only. I didn't work for long in Money before going with something else. So QB is my recommendation - and do the online version before wasting money buying actual software. It functions very, very close to the actual software, and bonus - you can access it from anywhere, so can your CPA. Good luck!

I have used both as well, and agree that QB is better but MUCH more complicated. I bought it and decided (alot of $ later) that it was too much for what I needed. For simple accounting, there is another version called Quickbooks simple start. It has a MUCH easier learning curve, yet still has all the features I needed for a buiness without inventory, etc. You can download it free online and use it for free until you reac 20 customer,s then you have to upgrade to the paid version (and they mail you the disk at that time too.) It is also much cheaper than the full version of Quickbooks. Good Luck!

M.,
My DH is self employed as a contractor. He uses Quickbooks Pro to track customers, tax info etc... . He really likes it, especially at tax time!

I'm a tax attorney and practiced as a CPA for more than 20 years. I personally like using Quickbooks and many of my clients use it; it's easy to get started and easy to use. I don't really know much about the other program.

I use Quickbooks and I love it. I agree that it is a little complicated but you have so many tools to use that it is great!!!! I think we use the Pro edition. Hope it helps!!!!
