I thought that i might have been pregnant. but i took 3 test and they all came back negative. i have NEVER been late except for last month which i was a week late. this month i seem to be late again with no signs of starting. I have had no changes in appitite, medications, stress levels, or weight and those are the main reasons for a missed period. im trying to figure out other reasons as to why i still havnt started. I have been having nausa, some slight cramping in my lower abdomin. some pain in my hips. and constipation w/ a lot of gas.( i know TMI) my breast have been hurting on and off, and seem to be swollen. i have had cyst in the past when i was younger and im thinking maybe that could be the reason but im not sure. i was wondering if anyone else had any other ideas, or maybe the same problem as i am. also i am only 23 years old.

What can I do next?

The cyst could be a possibility. Or you could be pregnant, and the test just cant recognize it yet, because your hormone levels arent high enough, or its just too early. Go to the doctor and find out for sure to be safe. They can do some blood work and tell you for sure what the cause is.

Good luck!

This happened to me, at the same age. For no good reason my normally-like-clockwork periods went totally out of whack. I'd go 4 months without a period - for 18 months!! Of course, it didn't help that we were ttc. Never did find out what the issue was (lotsa tests, but everything always came back normal), but went on to have 3 girls in 4 years :o)

If you don't get your period in another week, test again. If it's still neg then get a blood test done and see your doc.

Dontcha just wish our feet would turn green when we get pregnant??? Would make life a lot easier!! LOL

It's possible that you aren't ovulating regularly or your cycle is changing. That can be a part of getting older (I know 23 isn't OLD, but you are kind of entering a different phase in your fertility). Those kind of hormonal shifts can cause all of the symptoms you mentioned... and so can pregnancy.

My advice is wait a week and test again. By then, a pregnancy would definitely show on a home test. I know a week seems like a long time, but you'll drive yourself (and your wallet) crazy testing every day until your period comes.

Thyroid problems can cause your period to be strange and it can also cause problems with constipation. Just throwing that out there as a thought. It's just a simple blood test so ask your Doctor to check your thyroid levels. Good luck :)

I have had ovarian cysts that have caused the same problems. 3 tests are usually correct. See your doctor if it gets to be too uncomfortable.

Sounds like pregnancy to me! Home pregnancy tests are not always that accurate. I've tested negative both times I was pregnant. Since your period was late last month you could be 6 weeks already. Make an appointment with your obgyn. Tell them everything you wrote here. They have blood tests which are more accurate. And if it's something else, you'll want to find that out asap too!

Kind of a weird question, but you mentioned that you were late last month, around a week. Well, did you clock your cycle by the beginning of the period, or from the day it was suppose to start? I'm sure you did it correctly, but if not, then your not missing a cycle, just not writing it down correctly. Most of the time when we think we are pregnant, and the signs are there, we normally are. The one that I noticed was you said your breasts hurt, well, that is a sign right there. Go to the doctor, or just call tomorrow. It is very important that you know either way, so you can figure out WHAT is going on.
Good luck, and happy hunting.

The major drawback with home pregnancy test (i assume, you had taken a home pregnancy test kit) is that if a test produces a false negative result and you actually are pregnant, you may postpone seeing a practitioner and taking appropriate care of yourself. So if you use such a test, keep in mind that it is not designed to take place of a consultation with, and examination by, a medical professional. Medical follow-up to the test is essential.Since your test is negative and you periods are still due, you have to see a doctor, and then need to find out why.
It looks like a pregnancy to me, but still until the issue is explored by the doctor you should "act pregnant",until you know for sure that you're not. Possible causes for the absence of periods are - travel, fatigue, stress, fear of pregnancy, hormonal problems, illeness, going off pill, extreme weight gain or loss, breastfeeding.
Possible signs of pregnancy are - 1. Absence of menstruation (following conception), 2. morning sickness-with or without vomiting (2-8 weeks aftr conception), 3. frequent urination (as early as 2-3 weeks), 4.Tingling,tender,swollen breasts (as early as a few days after conception).
P.S - You can have all of the signs and symptoms of early pregnancy and not be pregnant.Or you can have only a few of them and be very definitely pregnant.
When you take the Home pregnancy test kit next, keep the following things in mind (you may be aware of all this, but still, just in case)-
1- Read the directions for the test throughly before you use it (even if you've used it, or another test, in the past)Then reread them, just to be sure.
2- Have an easy-to-read clock, watch,or timer ready so that you can time the test precisely.
3- Be sure containers, dipsticks, or any other equipment to be used with the test are clean when you begin the test.Don't reuse these if you want to try again.
4- If a waiting period is required, place the sample on a flat surface away from the heat and in a place where it won't be disturbed.
5- Read the test after recommended waiting period; not waiting long enough--or waiting too long--can affect the result.
6- If the kit you purchased contains a second kit, wait at least a few days before trying a retest.

Good luck..and please go to the doctor as early as possible....Regards.
