Wii Game for 6 Year Old

My son is scheduled to have surgery right after his birthday. We do not typically play games in our house, but we do have a wii (not been used in 9 months). After his surgery he is not going to be able to be active for a few weeks, which is going to be a trial for everyone. Books and toys are only going to go so far. I then thought of dragging the wii back out, but I am not sure of a game that I could get him that would be age appropriate and not too physically demanding. Any suggestions? Thanks.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks I will check these out and see what he thinks he would like. He loves to watch us play Mario Kart, but he will not play. I think he would love it. Maybe after being confined for awhile he will be more willing to play. I also checked out the Nintendo website adn got some ideas from there.

My daughters like Mario Kart, Carnival Games, Let's Paint, and Jump Start Pet Rescue....none of these require too much movement but can be lots of fun! The last one is educational, but might be a little young for him (my 4 & 5 year old love it though!!!).
Hope his recovery is fast and you find some great things for him to do 8-)

What about a Mario Brothers game. You could play along with him. Its a little challenging at times but I bet he could figure most of it out.

My best wishes go out to you and your son. I hope he has a speedy and easy recovery. My son is 5. He loves to play the Wii. His favorite games are Carnival Games, the sports games that came with the console, Cooking Mama, any Cars games and Wii Just Dance (he plays that one with his sister). Hope that helps!

My six-year-old loves Super Mario Galaxy. It requires less movement than some of the games, just an occasional shake of the Wii remote along with the usual steering maneuvers.

Lego Star Wars or any of the Lego video games. My freshly turned five year old loves the crud out of them. She still has trouble with some of the more difficult puzzles but I would guess for a six year old they wouldn't be an issue at all.

Check out the Nintendo Wii website, you can check out games for the age group you are intrested: http://www.nintendo.com/games/gameGuide?system=wii

On the left you can select what genres you want to look at as well as the age you are looking for. There are so many to choose from. We have some JumpStart ones, Mario Cart (but the steering can be frustrating for some kids) and Fit (but that is an active game). Hope others have some suggestions too.

Wii Party and Mario Party 8 are both lots of fun for all ages. Wishing him a speedy recovery!
