Hi, last month I had a sinus infection and took antibotics for it. I am now 9 days late for my period this month!! And I am a on time person from month to month! I had a little extra stress last month too, but would that cause it to be 9 days late?? I forgot to add I am not and haven't been on the pill for over 10 years. Hubby and I just do the rhytmn method. I know, BADDDD!! (not a great way of contraception!)

What can I do next?

Antibiotics will negate your birth control. You may want to take a pregnancy test to see.

There was a warning that came out about 10 years ago about taking antibiotics and the pill. It said something about reducing the pill strength and pregnancy was a possibility. How do I know? My grandson was conceived as such. His mother was on antibiotics for kidney infection and the pill and got pregnant. So if you have sore boobs and you are queazy you probably are pregnant. Look at it this way, each child had a childhood since they are spaced and not stepping stones. Good luck to you and enjoy the "last" one.

antibiotics can cause your birth control to NOT work, so you may want to take a pregnancy test b'c it sounds like you may have another bun in the oven!

As far as I know abx do not impact your period and I've been on LOTS of abx - just about every variety and type there is. As others note, if you're on the BC pill, then the mostly likely thing is that you are pregnant. This is a good example of why one SHOULD also ask for the literature that comes with an Rx or look it up online.

The only time I am late by more than 2 days I am pregnant. I would strongly suspect that you are. I would think that if you have been stressed before and have never been late then you probably are pregnant. Especially, if you take the pill as your form of birth control. Antibiotics and birth control pills are a bad combo for avoiding pregnancy. Especially, if you were exposed to your hubby. If you know what I mean, ;) !!!
I would suspect CONGRATULATIONS are in order!!
Good luck,
L.

Antibiotics and birth control pills do not mix. I have a neighbor who really wanted another baby (oldest was 5) and she "conveniently" had a mix up with antibiobitcs and birth control and now has the 2nd baby she wanted. Her hubby was NONE too happy at the time because they had agreed to stop at one. She covered the error so easily with "I didn't know" but I think he did.
