Get checked out ASAP!
Hi moms out there..:) I am currently pregnant about 12 wks pregnant. I woke up this morning about 3am to find that I was laying in a giant puddle of fluid. This was not your normal "I wet the bed" type of fluid. This saoked through sheets, plastic covering and the mattress pad to get to the mattress. My shirt up to my chest was soaked as well. When I stood up to get out of bed the liquid was running down my leg. It was a clear fluid and didn't leave a ring or stain on the sheets or anything. I smelled the sheets but it had a strong smell to it. Not your typical urine smell. Could this have been my amniotic fluid leaking? And if so does that mean I have had a miscarriage.
We went to the ER and waited. It took them forever to get us back there. But they ended up doing a pelvic exam and a ultrasound. The ER was not a OB so she couldn't tell us a whole lot. All she could do was tell us that the baby was ok and the ultrasound seemed to be ok. From my view it seems a bit cramped in there for the baby. I mean the area where the baby was a lot smaller than when I had my daughter. So I'm just alittle concerned that maybe that was so of the baby's fluid. So the Dr. told me to be on bedrest and take it easy when I had to get up and about. Hoping that everything continues to go well.
Get checked out ASAP!
Oh honey... please get to a doctor ASAP. Or emergency room to soothe worries. I had a miscarriage and know the pain/worry. That said, I know that 'early labor' etc usually involves tinged fluid/some color to it. I wouldn't panic though (that will do nothing, and there is nothing you can do but see your doctor to soothe worries..) So hang in there.
If the fluid has an ammonia kind of smell it could be urine...but I have read amniotic fluid has a *sweet* smell. Are you feeling pelvic pressure? Cramps? lower back pain? These are warning signs but regardless please get in to your OBGYN asap. And please keep us posted on here, I know it's a scary thought but I am praying you and your baby are ok!!!
Go to the hospital and have them check...quickly!
Hi J.! I would call your doctor today ASAP and they can do tests to see what fluid it was. Sometimes its hard to tell. It does not mean that you had a miscarriage already, but it is not normal to leak amniotic fluid (if that is what it was).
Good luck, I hope everything is ok!

Bed rest is much more important than you could ever know.
If it were me, I would get a second opinion from a high risk specialist (Maternal Fetal Medicine)and get you and your baby thoughly checked out with them. This is very early in your pregnancy to be having these kinds of problems.
MFM is very good at detecting problems early and averting trouble.
A similar thing happened with baby number two. Got out of bed and liquid kept running down my legs. I got to the hospital right away. Turns out that I had been pregnant with twins but the second egg had never really developed into anything, just kind of a big bag of fluid. Through hospitalization, bed rest and medication, I carried my daughter to term with very few problems.
I agree with the others, get to the hospital to get checked out. I will be keeping you in my prayers! Update us if you can! Hugs to you.
