My daughter is not crazy about it either if I try and give it to her out of a bowl. So what I have been doing since she was about 4 months old is putting it in her bottle at night. Just recently I have been giving her a cereal bottle in the mornings too. She is eight months old now. You can buy cereal nipples so that that she can get it to come out of the bottle. It has helped her to sleep all night as well as satisfying her. She was not getting satisfied before.

Rice cereal is the easiest on the baby's stomach and least allergenic and that is why people usually start with that. At her age, you could probably do oatmeal though. My daughter started on rice cereal at 1 month and oatmeal at around 6 months. A trick I learned though is to mix the rice cereal with a jar of fruit baby food. I do that with the oatmeal and that's my daughter's breakfast every morning. Hope that helps! J.

Rice cereal is important because it is a bland natural food that a baby can digest easily and there is very little chance for the child to have an allergy. I too am and AF wife and if you need any other help, please feel free to contact me. You might want to try to mix some smashed bananas, or baby applesauce. I believe there is rice cereal with bananas already and you can mix it with formula for added flavor. ____@____.com

Hi, I have a 18 month old baby girl. She didn't like cereal either. I have always heard it is a good source of iron. Which babies always need a lot of at that age. One thing you might try is mixing the cereal as normal but, just adding your baby's favorite fruit. I would add apples or bananas and she would eat it up. That was the only way she would eat it. I thought at least she was getting more iron in her diet. Hope that helps some. Good Luck!

When first starting cereal, try mixing it with formula or your breast milk so it has a familiar taste. Keep it diluted then add more cereal, gradually. You have to watch the size of the tiple opening with the bottles. The point is to help your child adjust to a thicker food. It helps with their sence of texture and their stomaches. If your daughter is not responding, to regular flavores of rice cereal, try a flavored kind. Rice cereal is great for thickening the fruit or vegetable you are feeding your child. Gerber puts out a banana flavor. If you decide to skip cereal and start on baby food that is fine. Try vegetables first. Stay away from sweet flavors. Your daughter might reject vegetables like peas and green beans if she becomes accustom to bananas, apples, etc. My son is 3 years old. We did well with cereal and baby food. I would like to tell you that he eats lots of vegies now. When he was 10 months old he spent three days in the hospital with the Roada Virus. It attached his digestive system severly. He was never the same kind of eater after that. I have a good friend that has a two year old daughter that has had great success by starting veggies first. She is planning on doing the same with her 7 month old. Good luck.
