Babysitting is about the only legit one. Lots of moms would love to have a flexible babysitter... someone that can work a night shift.

Unfortunately, I have not found anything that isn't an MLM or a scam or doesn't pay diddly squat. Trying to get creative and figure something out!! We all need to inform the other moms if we do find something. It would be a HUGE blessing!
G.,
There are alot of legit things to do from home!...but also alot of scams. some things are labeled as scams only because I think deep down some people are actually hoping for a get rich quick scheme- and a legit business or job doesn't work that way. If you aren't afraid of actual work, then there are plenty of opportunities out there- just do your homework and make sure you research the company and get all the details to make sure it is a good fit for YOU! :) I looked for a while till I found something that works for me, and am now in my 2nd month. So far so good! - dispite some neg comments by some! Its the perfect fit for me- which is all that matters. ;) And if you are at all creative, you can always make things to sell? Are you computer literate? There are so many that aren't and need help in posting things for sale, or updating their work/business profiles. I will send you a msg- if you are interested in what I found! Happy hunting and I know you will find something that allows you to stay home with your kids! Just be smart! :)
It depends on your education/training level. I work outside the home, but I also have a 2nd job that can be done at any time of the day or night from home. I'm a technical writer/editor for an online curriculum company. There are MANY online curriculum companies out there who need former teachers, subject matter experts, writers, editors and project managers. Most, if not all, are completely remote/work from home positions. You communicate via email, phone and web conference. Depending on the position, it can be full time or part time and you can expect to make $20 -$50 an hour or in some cases the higher positions are salaried.
Google "online curriculum companies" and you'll find many of them. You do need to have at least a Bachelor's Degree and experience to be hired.
Also, this is not regular income, but if you get on enough lists, you can get called pretty frequently. Google "focus groups" and "market research" for your city. I do focus groups all the time! I'm in Atlanta, so there's a fairly large market, but I average at least one or two a month -and I have done up to 6 in a month. Most pay around $100 for 1 or 2 hours of your time. Some pay a little less and some pay more -$125 and up. The most I've gotten was $300 and they came to my home and videotaped me! It's a great way to snag a little extra cash here and there.
Stay home with your children. Be a good mom to them and a great wife to your husband. Its been proven that men with a happy home who receive a kiss goodbye from their wife every morning make more money.
in home daycare..... built in income and play dates for your kids!
my friend is a stay home mom, that is working only seasonal with flower's.com it's an at home job answering calls?? if that helps
I work fulltime and before my son came along, I sold Tastefully Simple on the side for fun. I actually made a decent amount of money doing so and it was just a part time gig. I know that if that was my fulltime job, I really good have made a lot of money out of it. I know this all happened before the economy declined but I still think Tastefully Simple is doing good. I have seen a lot of woman bring is treats here at work made from their products and I actually still get people asking me if I sell for them because they need refills on things. It does seem to be that people are still buying their products.
I have my own home business and it IS an MLM. It is totally legit. I'm all for being careful, but do your research. There are very legitimate MLM's. The one I work with has been around since 1956 and is the number one natural nutrition company in the U.S. We constantly receive awards for doing good and help people every day. I know some people are afraid of MLM's (I used to be) but this is absolutely a viable way to earn money from home. Contact me if I can help.
What you might consider... is working at night. Or, something at the hours where your child would be in school.
I know some Moms that work at night... for the same reasons as you... so, they get to be home with their kids during the day... and once Hubby comes home they then go to work.
Or yes, do Babysitting/childcare in your home. That is what I did before I had my 2nd child.
good luck!
I found a great company through Work At Home United. If you want info (too much to put here) go to www.WorkAtHomeUnited.com/madden and I will be happy to give you a call (free information and no obiligation).
Working from home doesn't always equate to spending time with your kids, so be careful. Many WAH positions will require childcare, so keep that in mind.
Legit WAH jobs are extremely competitive right now and there are a lot of scammers preying on families trying to bring in extra income this way. If you want to find legit opportunities, one of the safest ways is to go with companies you've heard of, like Avon or Pampered Chef (assuming party sales interest you at all).
What is your professional skill set? If you have a college degree and a marketable skill set, you might consider consulting. I have been a freelance public relations writer for almost 10 years now and love it. Starting your own business really isn't as expensive or complicated as you'd think, and there is a wealth of information about how to do it online.
Good luck!
