Thank ya'll for all of the suggestions!! I am not a certified teacher - so no tutoring! :( I was thinking of some type of computer work? But I think ya'll are right! The point is to be at home with my kids - so I wouldn't need child-care. We will just need to get through this season, and when he is better - continue subbing :) Once again! The responses have been awesome!

Thank you!!

So What Happened?

Also, childcare is not an option at this time. With all of our sick issues, plus, we are in a small-ish condo.

I appreciate your spunk in wanting to work. However, working from home is just that.... WORK. No one will pay you to be home with your children.

Most work from home employees are either self employed (me - we own our own company) or someone who is established with a company because it takes a strong drive, self discipline and work ethic.

There is NO way I could do my job with children under my feet. People who work from home are usually required to have child care. Why? because you are working for someone else and they want 100% of your efforts on the job at hand.

Of course, all the MLM'rs/Direct Sales/Pyramids will contact you to recruit you and you just need to be fully informed of any contracts, expectations, etc... Most all do involve selling, recruiting and some sort of investment.

Think outside the box. I also substitute and I have for 10 yrs. I do this along with running our company. Multiple income streams are very important.. (ex: 1 thing dries up, there is still something there to do and earn money). I am very particular with my subbing and my days are always prebooked.

If you are a certified teacher.... tutor. A certified teacher in our area gets $50 an hour CASH for academics. What about music, other languages, etc. Also, babysitting bring in other children and extra cash. Have a crafty camp at your house one or two days week. What else are you good at.... crafts? Sell things you do not need online for extra cash.

Good luck to you with whatever you find!

Tutoring, pet sitting or childcare.
Any other kind of work from home would require you to have childcare for your own kids, and I assume you're trying to avoid that, right?
You could also look for evening or weekend work, or whenever it is that your husband is home to take care of the kids.

Tutoring would be your best bet. You have to have a somewhat unique skill set to work from home if you are not into sales.

In what subjects are you certified to teach? You could tutor. That would be the quickest way to earn the most money, I think.

Since you are a teacher - I would suggest you start tutoring.

The only other job that would allow you to care for your children and still get paid in in-home daycare.

All other jobs - would require you to be working...That is the common misconception about "working from home" - people think they won't need day care, etc. well, I'm sorry - you do. I work from home. Yes, I can take care of my kids as my job as staffing manager/recruiter allows me some flexibility. However, my boss expects me to be WORKING not playing with my kids. So during summer break and spring break? I am not lounging by the pool - my kids are doing activities so I can work.

I would STRONGLY advise tutoring. You can do it from your home or meet at the library.

good luck!

Go with tutoring. Here's the thing, though - you need to have someone watch your kids while you teach. You can't give all your attention to your business or your children. If you can coordinate with family, or hubby, or if there is aftercare at school, perhaps that could work.

Network like crazy. Give a free hour to someone that you know would talk good things to everyone they know all day long if they are happy. Give a free hour as a giveaway for raffles, etc. Check out staples or vistaprint.com for business cards and car door magnets to promote your service. Some schools do weekly packets and you can put flyers in them. Talk to the library and see if they have any way you could promote yourself. Good luck!

The only job that you can do at home and not have to pay a babysitter during the time you are working is having a child care business.

Other than that you are not truly able to focus on the work you are supposed to be doing unless you take your children to child care.

Starting your own home child care business can be very profitable. You need to get the regulations from your local child care licensing office so you can know what is required to do this.

In SC this is the page where you would need to start.
