Do any of you know of a good opportunity for working from home? I am an R.N., B.S.N. and would like to work from home. I would consider things not related to the health care field also. Please let me know if any of you have had luck with this. I live in Hurst right now, and plan to stay in the Hurst are forever!! Part- time, Full - time, benefits or not, doesn't matter. I just want the opportunity to control my schedule. Thanks!!!!

My neighbor is a nurse, and she works in some capacity for Johnson & Johnson from home PT (in addition to her nursing job). You might check their website for opportunities like that.
Hmmm, I wonder if it would be possible to be a phone-triage nurse from home. That seems like a job that would be a good candidate for telecommuting.
I work for a large insurer and most of our nurse care managers work from home. The only thing is you would still have a regular schedule i.e. M-F 8-5 So if this interests you, you should go to the websites of some insurers to see who might be hiring for this type job.
Hi L..
I own franchises on the internet and LOVE it. It's kind of like owning amazon.com. There is a huge business but you could specialize in an area that we have working with doctors. I would love to chat more just to give you an overview. Message me your email and we can set up a time to chat over the computer.
:)
Hi L.:
I would take extreme caution on responses to this post. There are many marketeers online that might try and lure into pyramid marketing schemes. Never pay money upfront for work-at-home opportunities. Just stay alert and good luck
I am a RN, CCM and I work from home. I work as a Case Manager. You manage diability and workers compensation cases for employers or insurance adjusters. I have been doing this for 15 + years and love it. You can search on any of the online employment sites (monster etc) and look for Case Managers
L., I own an insurance agency but have been selling vitamins online and am now making more doing that than my insurance! Its gotten to the point where I'm debating about selling my agency and doing it full time. Both jobs allow me to work from home to be here for the kids, but there is no service work for the vitamins so that is a huge bonus AND I'm now making more than the insurance agency. Here is the website, you can watch the "just push play" video when you have a minute. http://www.GBGisIT.com Anyway, message me if you (or anyone else that sees this) wants more info. =) Good luck!
I also think of some sort of nurse consulting line which utilizes your experience.
You'll be hit up with all the MLM/direct sales reps for asking the wrok at home question but if that is your things, go for it.
I'd think outside the box on what do you love to do and what are you good at?
Keep in mind that working at home is WORK and a JOB. Many companies don't allow telecommuting because they need to know the employee is self driven, self disciplined and self motivated. If you have children and/or pets, you'll need a separate area for work. No one wants to be on a call with barking dogs, noisy children.
Good luck!
I had to have IVIG treatments while I was pregnant and with my last pregnancy, I had a nurse come to my house to give me my IV's. I also had a nurse come to my house to take blood for our life insurance. Both nurses said they love traveling to people's homes. I also had a nurse come to my house to dress my incision when my C-Section wouldn't close. It's not exactly "work from home" but you can control your schedule.
I need some additional sales reps for our Insurance Program with Alarm Monitoring Sales. Great $ can be made at this for someone willing to put in the effort and time. Let me know if you are interested. Areas I need reps - Arlington, Ft Worth, Dallas, Allen, Plano, McKinney, etc.
First I will say that I am not part of a pyramid scheme. I have my own home business with a direct selling company and our company is a member of the Direct Selling Association. We have been featured in the Country Living Magazine for the last few months; as well as, Good Morning America and Lifetime TV. I am a designer, trainer and fund raising specialist with Celebrating Home; a Home Decor Company. My paycheck is based on the amount of work I am willing to do. When I have a team, and they choose to work, I get bonuses from the company.
If you would like information about my company and the business opportunity, please let me know. I see you are in the Hurst area. I will have a booth at the HEB Texas Health Hospital Auxiliary Bazaar on November 4. If you would like to come by and see the products and talk with me in a no pressure situation, please do. I don't force people or guilt people in to starting this business. I tell them about it and if it sounds right for them, they can give it a try.
I am looking for new team members and will be happy to talk with you about this business. For me, it has been a great opportunity because I am raising my grand daughter and I get to set my work schedule around our family schedules. You can find me on Facebook under D. Marie T. and my business page is: Celebrating Home - D. T.. I find that when you find something that you have a passion for, it will feel less like work and be more fun, while making money.
Please note: This is not an advertisement...L. asked for suggestions and I'm giving her one that I know works for me.
Good luck to you, L., in whatever you find that works for you.

I was thinking the same thing as QueenOfTheCastle. My insurance has a nurse line as does my pediatrician's office. Maybe you could talk to your healthcare providers to see if they have names of companies that provide this service that you could get in touch with.
I just started with a company in July. It's going pretty well for me. It offers products that you use everyday. If you're interested message me and I'll send you a link that you can check out. It has nothing to do with the health or medical field.
I work for United Healthcare and work from home- they have a lot of opportunities for nurses- just check out their career section. For that matter, check out any insurance company- they all have work at home opportunities!
How are your English skills, both writing and grammar?
If you were an A student in school and you're anal about the written word/sentence structure & syntax and punctuation being correct, you might be able to freelance as a medical editor/copy editor/proofreader. I don't know how many places will use someone who freelances ( because of proprietory information, most medical companies want you to do the work inhouse), but you could look into that. If you haven't done much with language/English for a while, you'll want to buy some books to refresh yourself (like the Chicago Manual of Style) and also the Handbook of Psychology (it's the grammar rulebook for the medical/healthcare industry, I think) so you'll be up on what you need to know.
It will take time to get yourself up and running; I am a freelance book editor who works from home. I am a Sr Editor for an e-publisher, where I do content editing (starting my 6th year in Nov), and I also copy edit and proofread for a small publishing company (been there for 3 years). But it took me a long time *read: a lot of experience needed* before I got the job with the small publishing company.
There are jobs out there; you just have to research and see what's there and what type of experience you'll need to do them. Check out sites like Elance.com or other freelance/jobposting boards. They'll give you an idea of what is out there for medical personnel for freelancing opportunities. Be aware, though, that you might not make a lot of money. But if working at home and being able to control your day is more important to you, then by all means, check things out. I wish you lots of luck!
