My 4 year old just finished the workbook "Brain Quest Workbook, Pre-K, Ages 4-5" and is eager for me to buy her another workbook. She's very interested in doing paper and pencil type activities at the moment. (I can't buy her the Brain Quest Workbook for ages 6-7 one because it's too advanced, you have to be able to read).
Does anyone have suggestions for workbooks they've used and liked that would be appropriate for a 4 year old?
There are many other workbooks out, just continue to change them also online is a website called DLTK. They have many things to do for the young child.
They have great ones at the dollar tree. I used them in my Pre K class.

My son was the same way, a friend recommended a computer program that teaches them to read which we purchased. He loved it because it was games and he started reading within a few weeks. When he started kindergarten he was reading on a 2nd grade level and is now in 8th grade reading at a junior in college level or shall I say that is where the test cut him off. Anyway I know that the program is still being made so if you want I can ask my daughter what it is called for you. I don't have it anymore, I used it with my next son and then sent it down to a friend out of state who also had the same good luck with it.

Try the internet. I found alot of activity sheets for my 4 yo on the internet, plus they are free. Good luck.

I've found some really great age appropriate workbooks for my daughter at Costco. We bought several preschool ones there last year for her. My daughter is now in kindergarten and I volunteer in her classroom. She is disappointed that they aren't doing any science so I'm going to be doing a lesson when I go in. Congratulations on realizing that your daughter needed more to do than play and teaching her that learning is fun. By any chance are you planning to homeschool?
It doesn't matter it appears that you have another year anyway at home teaching her. Why not try teaching her to read, instead of throwing the idea of the next Brain Quest Workbook out the window. It is working!!! Teaching your child to read in 100 easy lessons is a tool some, homeschoolers find successful, and is worth a try. I am using it as a tutoring tool for a 6 yo. It doesn't hurt them at all to know things when they enter public K. Don't be fooled by that notion! Also I loved the McGraw Hill workbooks, and I saw them at the local School Daze just recently.
Using maze books, dot to dot(both numbers and letters), and of course the library is a great place, but I assume you know that. There are also puzzles, and soduku for kids, & of course don't leave out board games you can play together.
Kids' songs that they memorize is good practice, but the best thing I found was to read to them pointing to the words, filling in the words they know, or the stories where certain things are represented by pictures.

I have a 5 year old who's in half-day kindergarten. I bought him a ton of workbooks through ebay. There are also a ton of sites that offer free worksheets that you can print out (just go to www.google.com and you can do a search for free kindergarten worksheets).
Kumon makes some work books. I remember when my daughter was about 4 getting her some of the maze books and some letter books. I bought them at Barnes and Nobles. Does she go to pre-school? If so, ask her teacher for a recommendation.
The drug stores near me have all kinds of workbooks and activity coloring books with mazes, dot to dots, find the difference, etc. Then she can color
