World of Kids Inc. Modeling Agency (Miami, FL)

Most modeling agencies are money pits and downright scams. I wouldn't do it for that reason and a million others.

You were "invited" by whom?

That is the first scent of scam.

If you go and if they ask for any moeny whatsoever RUN don't walk.

Most places that "invite" you to come in peg you as someone they can get money out of.

CREDIBLE modeling agencies do not "invite" you to come to a meet and greet. If they like you, they specifically tell you that upfront.

This smells like a rat to me. I have been modeling all my life, I would not fall for this one.

Basically if you go and they ask for money up front it is not legit. Agents take a percentage of work they get for you, you don't pay them before the work starts.

I don't know if your PS was directed at me, I posted that because World of Kids was listed as one of the reputable agencies. :)

I have not had experience with this partivular agaency, but I can give you some advice :)

NO legit, professional agency will ask for ANY money up front. They sign you on, and get your pictures taken, and the money the spend on you is taken out on commissions.

Child modeling is VERY hard. It involves a lot of sitting and waiting. It's h*** o* children. It's h*** o* the schedule. I think it would be nearly impossible, for a working mom to be able to make casting calls. It is often during the working hours, and you can potentially be there a very long time.

We were signed with World of Kids for awhile and LOVED them! They are 100% a legitimate agency. You will never have to pay them a fee and will never have to get professional pictures taken. I took all my kids head shots in my back yard with a blue sheet behind them. The agency takes a 20% commission off of the work your child does. Which is the standard for any agency. They don't get paid unless you do. My kids appeared in magazines like Talbots, H&M and Babies R Us and they made REALLY good money doing it. This was all through World of Kids.

We only stopped because it got pretty demanding. You are never given more then a few days notice to appear at a shoot and 99% of the shoots take place on Weekdays, we never had one on a weekend. They would call us on a Tuesday and ask us to be in Miami (I'm an hour away) the next morning. We also had to travel and stay over night at places like The Keys for a shoot. They paid for travel expenses.

I wish we could still do it, but with 3 kids now and one of them in school it just became to much.

Legitimate modeling agencies NEVER EVER request money from you. They pay for your pictures, book your work and get those fees from the work you actually do.

If this is a legitimate agency you would be responsible for getting your child to the locations for the work. Every 10 month old is adorable but do they photograph well and do they like strangers, can they handle the work. Is your job flexible enough to allow you time off to pursue your child's potential as a model? Just some food for thought.

No matter what they may tell you. You NEVER shell out money for pictures, NEVER EVER, no exceptions.

Yes, they are fine. Worked with them for years and before that when Debbie, (? it's been so long) worked with Green and Green. MY kids are 22 and 17 and they worked as infants and then for 10 years. Go ahead and get a small comp card...nothing big because a 10 mo old changes overnight! They used to just accept snapshots from babies but it's a whole new world today, I'm sure.

That's great !!! We where asked the same and actually just returned from out meet and greet ! My 9 month old was selected !
The only thing is that we will be traveling 4 hours to Miami ! Will this all be worth it ! I am a stay at home mother so I have no problem traving for my daughter and who wouldn't want to be in Miami beach but will it get expensive ? Or in the end will is all be worth it for my daughter ?
Also will there be things I will have to go to in Miami that she may not get picked for ? I would hate to have to go there all the time and get sent home ? Help? This is out first and only child and first experience with any of this !

lIke one mom mentioned, who invited you; if it wasn't World of Kids, call World of Kids and ask them who this company is. They are a very reputable company here in South Florida. Like the consensus says. lots of waiting around for some castings. Some are in and out. Do you have a thick skin if your child doesn't get picked. There are so many beautiful children but it isn't always about how beautiful. They look for very specific children. Try it out and if it works out great, if not, ,you tried but again, who invited you. You can look up World of Kids number on the internet, and call them directly. For babies and young children, you don't need a headshot or composite; babies change every day and agencies know this. Again, World of Kids is the most sought after agency for kids in S. Fla so break a leg. Also, all you need is a great snap shot. They will tell what you need but they will tell you what all these momma's mentioned. Also, if you get a manager, manager's can charge small fees but agencies should not.

My SIL and I visited Miami last year with our girls and we met some people from this company! We didn't sign with them because we don't live there but we did get to meet some moms that had and here is the limited info I got:

Reputable? Yes, i've heard so. But like anything you have to keep a close eye.

Fees: They should not charge you any fees except for what you have to pay for headshots (this also answers the professional pictures question :)

What to be expected: I'm not sure as to this companies exact rules as I only met a few moms, but I believe it was typical to most child modeling agencies and that is that all parents are expected to look after kids, they will find jobs, you take kids to audition, they get the part you take them back. It's really not as complicated as it seems. My daughter did some modeling as a baby here in Chicago.

I work as well, and all I did was INSIST all auditions were made after school/work hours. Sometimes I did skip out of work an hour early, but I am self employed so it was easy for me to do so. If you have a strict job then scheduling could be hard.

I have worked with them for years. They are not a scam & I did research. They have meet and greets often. They won't ask for money. My son especially has done several modeling sessions with them for huge companies. It does require a LOT of time especially if you don't live in South Beach where they do alot of the photos. It's what you put into it. They call you & you can decline or accept the casting. During the busy season (Sept-Jan.) you can get several calls a week so if you are not available then you just decline.
