I actually found out I was pregnant because I had awful cramping. I went to the doctor because of cramps and she told me I was pregnant. She told me it was just the embryo implanting itself into the uterus. I was 5 weeks at that point. Hope that makes you feel better!

I started cramping and had a little bit of spotting at around that time...I, however, did not have a doctor that found it important enough to send me to the ER--I did that on my own. Eventually, it all went away, even though I started contractions again at 20 weeks. I then started going to Dr. Hayes, and he put me on Progesterone. I didn't have another problem until I delivered my daughter. It could just be a little matter of tweaking the hormones that should already be present in your body. But I'm sure everything is going to work out for you for the best!!! :)

I just gave birth to a beautiful baby in August and I had bleeding and cramps when she was around 5 weeks old. My doctor had be take the pregnancy blood test twice, the hormone is suppose to go up as you progress with the pregnancy, and she had me go in for an ultrasound, which showed a beautiful mass with a heartbeat. My mom also had her period 3 times when she was pregnant with me! I hope things turn out good for you!

You can have what feels like cramping but is round ligament pain with pregnancy, but if you start to spot or bleed that is a very negative sign. If your doctor says go to the ER I would go. But also know there isn't anything that can be done to stop a woman from miscarrying a child (sadly). I hope your pain and cramping is just ligament pain and not something more serious.

Good Luck.

mellisa- my heart goes out to you. I'd been worried too. I've been in your shoes, I consider my babies- premature as I lost them at 5mos. and 4mos. along. Unfortunately drs do nothing til you have lost 3. These were our 4 and 5 children. I just couldn't lose anymore, so we never tried again. I would ask your dr for an Ultra sound to ease your mind. If he isn't sympathic to you- go to a mid-wife or at least another dr. Sometimes you have to make a lot of noise to be heard. hugs L.

Hi M.. I had that happen to me with every pregnancy I had. Some were happy endings and some not so happy. Just take it easy if you can and stay off your feet as much as possible. Try not to worry too much about it! I know that is easier said than done! I was there several times. Good luck and let us know how things turn out!!!

M.,

I hope everything is still fine for you. I wanted to reassure you that I have had two pregnancies -- both with very significant bleeding and some cramping throughout the first trimester. The doctor has never found a reason why, but I have two healthy sons and that's what really matters :) Good luck, try to stay as calm as possible, and remember -- cramping can also be "growing pains".

This might sound wierd but when I was pregnant with my second one which was so many years ago I forgot about it I experienced this. My old doctor who has since passed on told me he had heard of this before and that sometimes it happens when the egg is trying to firmly attach itself. Don't know if it was true or not but it continued off and on for about two weeks then went away. She is now 24 and expecting my #2 grandbaby so if it quits soon I wouldn't worry. If it doesn't go back to your family doctor and see what she(he) says.

I had not had a previous miscarriage, however I had cramping and bleeding with my first child from about 5 weeks till around 18 weeks. They said that it was placenta previa. I was on partcial bedrest, which ment I could only be up out of bed around 4 hours a day. It was really scary. But everything turned out fine in the end, my daughter will be 4 in December. I really hope things go as well for you.

YES. I HAVE 4 KIDS. THE FIRST 2 WAS GREAT. THE 3RD, I CRAMPED AND BLED ALOT. THIS WENT OFF AND ON FOR MONTHS. I CARRIED TO TERM AND HAD A HEALTHY BABY BOY. THE 4TH IT WAS AN EMOTIONAL ROLLERCOASTER. STARTING AT 4 WEEKS, SEVERE CRAMPING TO WHERE THEY THOUGH EPTOPIC, THEN THE HCG COUNT WASN'T RISING PROPERLY, SOME BLEEDDING, BUT IN THE END I DELIVERED ANOTHER HEALTHY BABY. THEY (DOCTORS) TOLD ME THAT SOME PEOPLE HAVE CRAMPS AND STAINING TO A LIT PERIOD AROUND THE TIME OF THE MISSED. MAYBE THIS IS WHAT IS HAPPENING.

First of all, congratulations on your pregnancy.

With both of my children I experienced cramping for a few weeks, (at times quite painful). My doctor was emphatic that if I noticed any spotting, to go to her office and be checked. To ease my mind, I had early ultrasounds. I'd suggest getting one yourself; it's reassuring (and exciting) to see a normally developing baby. This way you'll know for sure that everything's alright.

Call your doctor/nurse and explain the situation; she/he may want to see you anyway. I'm sure your doctor will be understanding of your concern. Ultimately, listen to your body and request that your doctor do what you want.

Good luck and again congrats!

i had ovarian cysts that ruptured about the same time with both kids. with my son, i had cysts on both sides. with my daughter, just on my right. the pain was mild cramping for about 4-5 days, with the last day being very bothersome pain. the location of my pain was slightly to the side of a normal period cramp. during this time i also had gas and mild diarrhea. the last day was a intense, lay on the bed in the fetal position, please let me sleep, kind of pain. this lasted only about two hours or so and then everything relaxed. if something similar is happening with you a thorough ultrasound of your ovaries will tell. i hope you are not miscarrying, i did too and it tears a little piece of heart out. good luck.

I'm a mother of 2. I had a miscarriage before my first child. When I finally got pregnant again with Jake I started bleeding and having cramping. I'm happy to say that after a while it all went away and I had a healthy baby boy. I'll pray for you.

We had a second trimester miscarriage back in 03. You have my sympathy. It is devastating. Wanted to pass along our success story. We had twin boys in '05 ironically on the same date that their big brother had gone directly to heaven. I did have both spotting and cramping through out the pregnancy and only went to 29 weeks 4 days but now the boys are doing great, you'd never know they had been preemies. I was on many restrictions but it was worth it. Will pray that you have the same results. In our case, it was a blood disorder I have that caused me to miscarry our Jaeden. I was with a high risk pregnancy doctor and think that made a big difference. A lot of regular gyns just don't have the knowledge for preventing miscarriage. God bless!

I had a miscarrige in between my 3 and 2 year old and had some cramping early in the beginning with my 2 year old. If you are not bleeding with the cramping make sure you take it very easy and no heavy lifting. Hoping for the best for you.
