This year has gone by SO fast! We will now be back answering all the Thanksgiving and Christmas dilemmas, you know the ones where people don't want to travel, or want to host the dinner, or can't take the inlaws....lol.
Note to self "do your holiday shopping now before it snows".
Happy October 1st to you all.

Dressing up and decorating, sneaking a piece of candy from my kids stash-- (Don't tell them), letting them donate candy to the Troops serving overseas, apple pie and leftovers, holiday lights, gifts from the heart, happy children, Santa Claus, chilly weather, pretty sweaters, scarves and hats, chillin' by the fire, and hot cocoa with whipped cream. Be happy! And don't spend too much money!

I dread this time of year. My budget is so low and my credit cards have no space. The only card that I have ample space on is way too high interest wise. I wish I could sleep through it. 4 more months to pay off my van and THEN I'll have money. But that takes me right on by Christmas.

Grandma T, I thought you were my friend. Did you HAVE to mention this?
:)
Oh....how I'm dreading this time of year.
I live in a cruddy place that never really gets a summer and I have to admit it breaks my heart when I read all the posts about how everyone is suffering in the heat.
I live in the wrong place and that's my problem. One of these days, I'm going to rectify that. My son only has this year and next year until he graduates high school.
I wasn't born and raised where I am. I've never liked it here.
It's just cold and drizzly, foggy, rainy all the time and then it's colder and drizzlier and foggier and rainier.
This year has gone by so fast.
For me, it sucks because we don't ever really get "seasons" so therefore I don't get to enjoy that part of life.
Anyway, Halloween is my favorite and I'm looking forward to that. It will be my grandson's first Halloween. My daughter turns 25 the day before.
I'm like Ephie, (Hey, Ephie!).....I'm trying to pep talk myself.
There's been Christmas stuff in the stores since September. I'm already over it and it hasn't even happened.

So, there's my venting about the situation. It's true, time goes by much faster as you get older. My birthday is in December. I think maybe I'll just skip this one.

My little grandson has lots of firsts coming up so my mood will surely improve.
I'm going to try to avoid dilemmas as much as possible.

Happy October 1st to you too!!!

LOL. TELL me about it. We spent Feb-July in Children's Hospital... so according to my internal "clock" it should be coming up on JUNE.

Same token, the ADHD posts, and homeschooling posts, are going to start hitting right along with the holiday posts & parent teacher conferences! (I've been here too long). Old joke: What do you call a homeschooler talking to themselves? A parent teacher conference.

First of all.. Shane B DON'T forget your birthday! My b-day is in December too and you have to fight for the special day! Grandma T you are awesome. October and the Fall are amazing. I love Halloween, the kids are so excited and talk about their costumes for weeks. We visit the pumpkin farm in San Martin and spend the day there riding ponies, carosel, hay ride etc. and have a wonderful time. It is the time to start shopping for Christmas but we will be traveling to Canada this year and can shop light (flights are so expensive). BUT my kids are young and Santa has a heavy hand in good and bad in our home this time of year... so... I have perfect angels.

(((Shudder))). Yup. October. Here it is.

Our summer DID go by fast, but in part because we had a total of three weeks of summer weather (over 75 degrees).

We just bought this gorgeous woodstove to replace our old one. Thanks be to craigslist. So THAT's exciting. And the kids came back from outside and we drank spicey hot cocoa. And Halloween is my favorite holiday AND my mom's birthday (woooooo). I'm trying to pep talk myself here.

Historically, October is a rough month for us. I've decided to look at it a different way this time around. October is the month when our blessings wear the greatest disguises (which is *actually* pretty true - 'cause things work out the way they need to (which is different than the way *I* want them too ;-)).

This will be my mantra for the next 31 days.

And another year flew by! One year closer to the grave. Happy Oct. 1 to you too!

(You should put a question mark in your post so it doesn't get pulled.)

Happy October 1st, everyone! Don't forget all the Halloween dilemmas too!

I think my kids already know what they want to be for Halloween, but we haven't gotten their costumes yet.

Gotta get through my husband's and cousin's birthdays first!

I am SO happy about this! Summer was horrible for me. I felt trapped inside because it was SO hot. Today it's in the 50's and very cool and nice and I had all the windows open. It's great! I am SO looking forward to this month and the next few months. This month is my birthday, my mom's birthday, my mom is coming to visit and I LOVE halloween. I LOVE Christmas shopping and my favorite part about it is going to the mall in December. It's the best feeling, even with all the crowds, I just love it.

I LOVE the fall!! It is by far my favorite time of year - the changing of seasons, the settling down of summer, the way I can open my up house to the breezes in the morning and evening, the excitement in my 4 year old's voice when he mentions the Chistmas or the Polar Express, the pumpkin patches, pulling out winter clothes, looking forward to curling up by a fire with my hubby, getting dark early, and the celebration yesterday of my youngest son's birthday (happy 1st, munchkin!).
Enjoy it! Happy Fall Everyone!!
