We are traveling this year for Christmas and are flying so I am going to have to ship most of my gifts. I am not an online shopper at all, so I was looking for some ideas for good online shopping sites for kids gifts. I would like this Christmas to be full of usefull gifts. I swear our toy box is FULL to the top with toys that NEVER EVER get played with. I am looking for games, learning toys, arts and crafts or any great ideas from you smart mommies! Also any tips on cutting down on all the shipping costs??? Thanks in advance.

What can I do next?

Amazon.com usually has really great deals on everything this time of year and free (super saver) shipping for orders over $25. For the 3-year old, I would suggest dress up clothes, anything related to the Disney Princess, books, wooden puzzles, mega blocks, and little pet shop toys. For the 6-year old, clue jr., monopoly jr., twister, chapter books, clothes in a size 7, bracelets and other types of jewelry and accessories - the funkier the better, art supplies such as a bracelet beading kit, etc.

Hope this helps.

I shop on Amazon first whenever I'm looking for gifts for our grandchildren. There is a big selection, and I look carefully at the customer reviews as well as the manufacturer's description! Some items bought from Amazon will qualify for free shipping - read the fine print carefully.

You might go through your girls' toy box, decide what's in good condition but unneeded, and give it to a thrift store or another group looking for good used toys to give children for Christmas. When it comes to the amount of toys in a playroom, sometimes less is more.

Don't forget that the boxes toys come in often turn out to be the best toys of all.

I just recently started purchasing more online and was turned on to a site www.retailmenot.com It's a site where people post coupon codes they recieve and you can use them too. Alot of times there are ones for free shipping, $ amounts off or percentages off your purchase. The store variety is good too, almost anything you can think of. Before I buy anything online I ALWAYS check the site first for coupons. Hope this helps.

I'm not really an online shopper either. But I have some suggestions for useful stuff.
Doodle Pro - my 8 year old son has had one since he was 3 and STILL uses it daily. He loves to doodle and practice cursive, and it's so easy since you just erase it and start over.
Big packages of markers in lots of colors, and construction paper in lots of colors. Very useful for making handmade cards for Grandma, etc.
Sponges for sponge painting - also good for making cards or just having fun
Seeds and pots for planting mini gardens - the kids have fun taking care of their plants all year and eating the goodies
Legos - just plain old legos, not the themed sets, they can just build and re-build

If you are ordering on-line, watch for free shipping deals and have things shipped to your destination. The problem then is getting things home -- you either 1) have to leave plenty of room in your luggage, 2) take an extra bag and pay the checked luggage fee, or 3) ship a box back home with UPS or FedEx.
You might consider having "Santa" arrive early before you leave and only take one present from mom & dad to open at your Christmas destination. My husband is a pilot and in the early years he sometimes had to work the whole holiday so we had Christmas early several times.
Another catalog with practical gifts is Lillian Vernon; they personalize lots of things like towels and kid sleeping bags.

Discovery Toys make amazing learning toys! Your girls will get so much out of them! Please check them out here: http://www.discoverytoyslink.com/karenchao

I am giving my three year old the "Short Vowel Fun" game, which is like Uno or Crazy 8s, but with words instead. He also really likes Busy Farm and Busy Bugs.

Your six year old will love the Money Money game and A to Z Junior. If she is a good reader, Wiz Kidz and Speed Wiz are also very fun.

Both can learn a lot from the Think It Through sets.

The Beyond the Book collections can teach them a lot of reading comprehension skills, as well as other great things. I am giving my son the Big Hungry Bear collection. I also love the Princess & The Dragon collection.

You can buy everything through the site and ship it straight to your destination. Most of them are pretty small, so they will fit easily in your suitcase for the way home. If you have questions about any of the toys or games, or if you want more recommendations, please ask! You can email me at DiscoveryToysKaren AT gmail DOT com anytime.

I hope you find some great things for your girls!
