Xray and Pregnancy

We are trying to get pregnant. According to the calendar I should be ovulating sometime between today and Friday. My concern is that yesterday I was in the ER with my toddler who broke his arm. I held his arm in place while the xrays were done, so my had was partially xrayed. Is it ok to try and get pregnant so soon after having xray exposure?

What can I do next?

Sweetie, if you're going to worry about this, then maybe you're better off not having another child because there are SO many things ALL around us EVERYDAY that could potentially be harmful, it would drive you crazy!

I think a partially x-rayed hand when you're not even pregnant yet is quite safe. :-)

I think you'll be fine, especially since just your hand was exposed to x-rays & you haven't ovulated yet. I understand the worry. I knew the risk was slight, but I worried about the dental x-ray I had in early pregnancy (6-8 weeks?). Everything was fine.

I had an x-ray taken of my baby while pregnant, several times. They were trying to figure out if she was breach. Then they wanted to be sure she was in the "right" breach position before delivery. She was fine, so I would say yes, go for it! Good luck!

You don't need to worry about it until you think there is a chance you might be pregnant, but if you go in for anything that requires x-rays you should let the tech know that you may be pregnant before they do them.

I had back surgery 3months before conception and went in to have follow up xrays done of my back when I was maybe a few weeks preggers (had NO CLUE!) and when they took the first xray I nearly fainted, we stopped there they got what they needed from the first one. You would think I would have put two and two together (I have had MANY MANY xays my entire life and never had an adverse reaction) but pregnancy was the LAST thing on my list of reasons why that could have happened. Long story short no complications with the pregnancy and overall healthy baby boy.

Yes. You want to avoid exposure as much as possible while pregnant but while TTC, I don't think it matters. FWIW, I had a CT scan while pregnant (to rule out a possible blood clot) and that has many, many times the radiation of an X-ray and everything was fine.

I had to get an x-ray while pregnant. (Broke my foot.) They just gave me an extra apron for my belly. My daughter was and is completely okay. I would think you'd be okay. Wouldn't hurt to ask a nurse at your ob's office, as a double check, though.

i think you should be ok. Especially since it is before ovulation. YOu can always call and double check. Were you draped?
