Hi S.! I had several yeast infections with my first pregnancy. I had to use the cream to clear it up twice but when I started using probiotics I was able to keep from having any more yeast problems.
I use a probiotic that I order online from Mountain Home nutritionals. The website is www.drdavidwilliams.com They are the best probiotics I have found. Better than Melaleuca or Health Food stores. They are reasonably priced too. Under $15.
I am so glad probiotics worked for me. I hated being on meds for it, they made me feel so sick!
Congrats on your pregnancy!

I have had recurrent yeast infections too, at least that is what I thought they were. It ended up being a bacterial imbalance. You can get an at-home test to take that will tell you which it is. My Gp Dr. misdiagnosed it but my Gyn caught it right away. I would check out Wal-mart, I think I saw the test there, and see what the results are. Ther eis also an over-the -counter treatment for bacterial issues sold near the yeast infection treatments.
Good Luck!

I get terrible yeast infections, if you keep getting them once you taken the medications go back to the doctor and check that they are gone. I had the infections once a month for about 6 months when they finally check to see if it was actually gone, it wasn't.
I end up taking 3 diflucan pills one every other day to actually get rid of mine. I would go back to the doctor have them check if its gone and tell them about taking more than one diflucan see what they say. good luck

Hi S.,

I can see you've gotten some good advice already, but I have a few things to add.

First of all, Yes, your partner could be carrying the yeast infection also and giving it back to you. This happened to me when I started dating my BF. Unfortunately, he hates going to the DR., but I was able to cure his problem by having him topically treat himself with the cream that comes with the Monistat Treatments, along with a pill called Azo Yeast.

You can buy Azo Yeast at Walmart for about $5 I think. We both took the pills twice a day and treated ourselves, me with the Monistat suppositories, him with the cream. Then when it seemed any symptoms were gone for both of us, we continued taking the Azo Yeast pills once a day for another few weeks.

I forget exactly what was in the pills, but I believe it was a natural yeast type thing, and it was specifically for curing and preventing yeast infections. It worked great for us and I haven't had a yeast infection since, although I'd had 3 in 4 months before using it. I really believe "curing" my SO was what cleared things up for me.

Good luck! There's a lot of good ideas on here and I hope something works for you! Re-occuring yeast infections are no fun.

hey S., I too went through almost 5 years of having yeast infections almost monthly. It seemed I would always get it a week or so before my period. I was diagnosed with Poly cystic ovarian disease about a year ago. part of it is that my insulin level is always elevated, no I do not have diabetes. since they put me on meds for this I have only had one episode with yeast, and that was while on a very strong antibiotic! something to think about!!! talk to your dr!!!

I have had quite a few yeast infections lately. I have never had one before either. I was on antibiotics and that started it. I got a RX pill from the dr and that cleared it up. I make sure to eat yogurt everyday to keep it away. Something with the live cultures in it and acedopholis in yogurt helps. I eat the Dannon natural (I can't do the artificial sweetners in the other yogurt)

When I had a problem with recurent yeast infections, I asked my doctor about it and he told me that men can carry the infection and continually give it back to you. He prescribed some cream for my hubby to use and it was many years before I had another yeast infection!! Also, if you use toys, it would be a good idea to treat those as well. For me personally, I love diflucan (a one time pill), you take it once and it's gone because it can reach areas that the creams can't...your OBGYN can prescribe it and it's much cheaper than any over the counter and prescription creams! :) (If I remember right, it is on Wal-Marts $4 list) Whenever I get a yeast infection now, I just put in a call to the doc and get the pill (diflucan)...no mess, no hassle, and it's gone. If I've been on a really high powered, long term anti-biotic, he will prescribe two pills to be taken three days apart. Still, can't complain since I no longer have to use messy creams! :)

Having a baby can screw with your body good. Antibiotica can case yeast infections and I believe birth control pilss can increase your risk for them. Talk with your Dr. - it could be something more.

Yes, antibiotics can actually CAUSE yeast infections. My mom has had issues with yeast infections for years, and everytime she has to take an antibiotic for anything, she automatically gets a yeast infection.

Have your husband go in and get checked, because he could very well be "carrying" a yeast infection, and you guys are just passing it back and forth between each other.

Try sleeping without underwear, and just letting the area "breathe". Also, check your laundry detergent. When I was in my late teens, I all of a sudden started getting vaginal infections--bacterial and yeast--out of nowhere. I changed over to scent-free, dye-free detergent, and I haven't had one since.

Watch the sugar in your diet. Probiotics are good, but you can also eat yogurt and kefir with LIVE active cultures. Read the labels and make sure what you are buying has live active cultures and no added sugar. You may have to go to a health foods store or a co-op.

Good luck!

I've never had a really bad yeast infection, but my midwife (who's into everything natural, like me) told me that if you sleep with a piece of garlic inside you (instead of those store-bought creams) it will clear up. Good thing sex isn't the issue. I'm not sure men are turned on by the smell of garlic. Apparently you'll really smell like it. :) However, I've heard babies love the smell and taste of garlic, so if you're breastfeeding, that's an extra bonus. :)

I get them recurrently too. The most reason I have found out is from sugar in our foods, some bodies cant handle much sugar in the colon. Antibiotics typically make them worse and the 7 day cream will often 'mask' that is taken care of, only to have it return asa bladder infection or another yeast. I had one last month and after two doctor prescibed medicines, the only hting that cleard it up was ProBiotics. They are live cultures in a capsule. I take one called Ultra Flora Plus. I get them at my chiropractor or a whole food store. Make sure you get the LIVE kind, as they need to be refridgerated. Take two in morning and two at night until you feel a bit better. than take one on am, one in pm. I take them every day now ,becuase it seems to keep the infections away.
