My daughter is almost four months old. She's been on this antibiotic and currently has thrush. When I changed her diaper a little bit ago, there was this thick yucky (greenish) discharge! I'm thinking maybe she also has a yeast infection down there? Any of you mommies experience this? She has her next well visit on the seventh... Should I wait that long or is this an emergency?? I'm pretty concerned. Any advice is very appreciated! Thank you mommies.
***She's been on this antibiotic for two months now. I will definately call the doctor tomorrow. I just really wanted to ask just to ease my mind a little tonight!! Thank you.
***Well, she had a fever in October and we took her to the ER and it turned out that her bladder is refluxing into her kidneys. So they want to keep her on this antibiotic so she doesn't develop a kidney infection. She goes in January to see how her bladder/kidneys are doing.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Okay I made her an appointment, I just wanted to ask last night since the doctor was closed. But as far as her bladder issues, (the tubes leading from her kidney to into her bladder are at the wrong angle, allowing the fluid to flow back up) the doctor at the hospital said that this is fairly common and that the majority of kids can grow out of it. That's why they put her on antibiotics and gave us an appointment for three months later. However if she doesn't grow out of it, that means surgery! So we're just doing whatever possible to avoid that.. And if they say they want to do surgery, I want a second opinion. We'll do it if it's neccessary, but surgery on my four month old is the scariest thought..
But thank you ladies.

It's common for people with kidney/bladder issues to be on long term antibiotics so that is not concerning. What I would worry about is the discharge. Although it could be yeast, yeast discharge is typically white in color rather than green. I would take her to the doctor ASAP to make her more comfortable. Most up to date practitioners these days are prescribing probiotics with antibiotics, ask you doc about this and if he is unaware of it you shold consider finding a doc with more up to date practices.

She needs to see a dr asap for such discomfort. Hopefully u can get a different dr. See a specialist. At childrens. We went through hell with a bad dr for months, then one day at childrens with a good one and our babies issues were solved and understood. The antibiotics sounds concerning.
A yeast infection is miserable. You can put plain only yogurt on as a diaper cream. Well, at least u can with adults to help yeast infection. Second, to cure it instantly I crush a fresh only garlic and put the liquid on site. Don't see how that would be bad for babies. It works for assaults usually and immediately.

if she has been on antibiotics that is why she has thrush ( yeast in mouth) and of course she could have a yeast infection in vagina. you are killing all the bacteria in her body including all the good stuff so the yeast gets to grow unhindered since there is no good bacteria to keep the yeast in check. please ALWAYS give your child probiotics during and after antibiotics treatment. i cant believe doctors are still prescribing antibiotics and NOT also saying to get some probiotics!

I would call the doctors office and ask them what they think and if need be, take her in. She could be having a reaction to the antibiotic.

I had the same issue with my kidneys, only it was not diagonsed until I was in my 20's and married. I also was on long term antibiotics to help keep the infections cleared up so that they could do the testing. My suggestion is get the test done, although I don't know if they can do it that young. The test is to fill her bladder up with dye and then take pictures as she urinates it out. I don't know about the discharge, but I do know that my dr would prescribe me an oral medicine to treat the yeast infection. Good luck with all of this!

I think you need to ask the question as to why she hasn't had more testing done on her kidneys and bladder if she is having some type of reflux issue with them. Just putting her on the Antibiotics will never solve the problem if you aren't certain why her body is doing this to begin with. I would make an appointment with another Dr or see if you can't go to a Children's hospital. It is not unusual to be on antibiotics for this type of condition but at the same time it is not good either.

Just take her to the doctor and don't wait.
Bladder reflux, kidneys, thrush.
I've never heard of anyone being on the same antibiotic for two months.
I know of having to take a second course back to back, but that's usually a period of 20 days, max.
No offense to any wonderful mamas on here, but we can't diagnose what's happening and you just need to take your baby to the doctor so they can get a handle on it. This sounds like a new symptom of something and waiting until the 7th is too far away.

Just take her in.

Best wishes.
