For each of my kids birthday's I provide lunch for everyone (either pizza or happy meals) and bring cupcakes that I let the kids pick out from the local bakery, so they all get a ring or something too. The babysitter loves it and the kids love it! Defintiely go for it :). The one year old at my sitter's place even gave everyone a goody bag! So cute!

i always send cupcakes to the daycare provider next door. I only send vanilla cakes with white or yellow frosting. They make the least mess.

I've also done the frosted cookies. Those were a big hit too.

I also send juice boxes, party plates and napkins.

Yup...ask the provider. As a provider, I prefer parents to bring the mini cupcakes, or the frosted cookies or something else. Big cupcakes are just too big, messy and they just lick the frosting off.

I had one parent (her daughter was in my care from the age of 18 mos to 9 years old). She would bring breakfast every year! Always with approval from me. Usually we would actually eat it as our lunch that day. Quick pancake mix, the stuff for french toast, instant cook sausage, OJ, etc. Always was easy/instant cook stuff really, I just didn't have everyone arriving at the same time in the mornings, so it was hard to make it our first meal of the day. But it became their tradition and we looked forward to it every year. One year it was fancy huge muffins from the coffee shop (and coffee for me!). It was fun! (The little girl still to this day..we keep in touch via FB....hates cake. She does pie or fancy cookies, ice cream cakes, etc for her birthdays).

Always check with your provider first!

Happy birthday to your little fella!

Of course take the cupcakes!! It will be super fun for him - and keep some for at home after dinner too ~ We always do a birthday dinner on the night of with a small cake or cupcakes besides the big party they have on the weekend. And we send cupcakes or cookies to school with them for all of their classmates. I may tend to go a little overboard, but at our house, Birthdays are always a big deal! I love to celebrate my precious miracles!!

I say yes. Let your son enjoy the day with his friends while you are at work. You could send some simple decorations too if you want!

I did cupcake balls for DD's bday & brought them in to her Pre-K class & everybody loved them. They were a little labor intensive, but so cute, and unique. Why do cupcakes when you can do something different? Just bring them in on the Friday before his birthday. See if the sitter can take a few pictures, as well.

I say ask the sitter. Although what I always did was to make something like banana muffins and frost them with creamcheese frosting.

No. The sitter does not want every one of her day care kids to have sugar during the day. It will just make her job that much harder. And since your son is only turning one, he has no clue what a birthday is and will not care.

I would ask the babysitter, then do confetti cupcakes WITHOUT FROSTING!! One, she doesn't want 5 sugared up kids crawling on the ceiling, and two, it will be easier to clean up the crumbs than the icing all over :)

Yes, but only if you ask the sitter in advance. All the parents would have to permit their kids to have outside food, and you don't want to exclude any kids for allergies or whatnot. Also, some teachers don't like non-nutritious items brought in, especially for really little kids.

I did family daycare for 20 years and every child had a birthday party. I always appreciated it when the parents brought in cupcakes (many even made goodie bags for all the children). If the parents didn't bring in cupcakes I would whip up a batch and let the kids frost their own.

I used to bake a little cake for my son to take to his sitter's for his birthday. He went to her from 3 months old to 3 years, and the other kids were more like family to him.

They all enjoyed it and I have some great photos that my sitter took for me as memories.

So, bake away !!!

Hi! My son goes to a home daycare...sounds similar to yours..for his 1st birthday I brought cupcakes for him to share with his friends there...and we had his regular party that weekend with family and close friends. I'm a kindergarten teacher and see all the time how special a birthday is for children...so I say definitely send cupcakes...he may not remember, but maybe have your sitter take pics for his baby book! :) happy birthday to your little guy!

I always send a treat for my kid's birthday to daycare. I usually ask her what day would work best when all the kids will be there. I have made cupcakes, cookies, brownies.
