I am 36 years old and I have a 20 months old son. We have been trying to get pregnant for the 2nd time and have been trying for the last 7 or 8 months but no luck. I got pregnant with the first tray at my first pregnancy in the age of 34. I know our timeing during my ovulation is accurate (because i know exactly when I am ovulating as I have pain during that day) and have no health issues. I am not a smoker or drinker either! My husband is a smoker and he is 39 yeras old but no other problems. What do you suggest?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks for your quick responses. I beleive the timing is not a problem as we have been trying every month after my monthly period every other day for that week. So I really dont know if I have a serious problem! Do you think my age is a factor?

I got pregnant first try at age 38 and after a miscarriage I got pregnant first try at age 39 and my husband was 42. So age may or may not be a factor. Both times I waited until the 5th day after I got my period then we tried for 10 days straight. You did something similar so maybe you just needed to try a few more days to be sure. It can't hurt to have both you and your husband tested but I would have your husband stop smoking since that can be causing the problem on his end (and it's healthier for him and for the whole family if he stops). See what the doctor says. Good luck!

I think you're suppose to have sex the day before ovulation, not the day of. I used fertilityfriend.com when I was trying to get pregnant with my 2nd. It's free and a great way to chart your cycle. I found out I wasn't ovulating when I thought I was. They also send you emails about TTC. It was really helpful for me.
Good luck! :)

I recommend seeing your obgyn for a check up to update him and rule out any problems. My sis-in-law was 34 when she started trying and come to find out she was not always ovulating with every cycle. Good luck.

The book "taking charge of your fertility". After two miscarriage, and my 35th birthday approaching, I didn't want to mess around. As soon as I had clearance to try again, I used the natural family planning method of charting that the book explains and got pregnant my first month (it had taken me 4 months on my other trys)!

I would say to use an Ovulation Predictor Kit, just to be absultely sure that you're ovulating when you think you are. At that time, also take some Mucinex to out your cervical mucus - helps the little guys reach home base.

I used OPKs with both pregnancies. Had sex the day of the positive result, and then the day after. Successfully gotten pregnant the first try, both times.

If that doesn't work, you may want to see the doc to see if you are, in fact, releasing an egg. Hubby should get tested as well.

I did Emerita natural progesterone cream and never cycled it, but used it every day and I guess it was about 2 or 3 months and I got pregnant. My friend used Biospec Bio-DHEA and took it everyday....her OB said she wasn't ovulating and then 2 months later, she was pregnant.
