Why Are You Still Breastfeeding?

**I'm not bashing either formula feeding or nursing just a discussion** Are you bottle or breastfeeding? I answer "breastfeeding" and I always get "Why!?" or "How are you still breastfeeding?" I only know a handful of mothers but all with the exception of my aunt (different generation) never nursed past 3 months. Same thing as women I meet or speak with in the baby aisles at the store. It really seems as if most women hate, can not, or will not breastfeed. But why? If you can breastfeed (no medical conditions) why then choose formula?...

Bottle for Newborn

Hi, I am currently 36 weeks pregnant and went shopping for necessary baby items. But going to the stores only add to my confusion. There are whole bunch of bottles out there. but which one is the best? I plan to breastfeed exclusivelybut still want to have a bottle around for the occasional bottle-feeding. So I am seeking recommendations for bottles which we are easy to switch to and fro from breast to bottle. Also I would like to know which ones are a complete no-no. The brands that I could find are playtex, avent, similac, tommy tippee...

Need Advice About Breast Feeding

I have a 2 1/2 month old daughter that I've been breastfeeding since birth. I'm going on a trip for 10 days and was planning on just having her bottle fed for the 10 days and then continue with the breast feeding when I get back. Is this a possibility? I had a really hard time getting her to take the bottle at least once a day so she can get used to it before my trip, but now she is and totally refuses my breast. I'm very confused and wonder why... My doctor said she has Thrush and it hurts her...Now I'm at a loss and don't know if I'm...

What About Goat's Milk?

My daughter is 8 months old. She now is breastfed and also eats babyfood and baby cereal, which I make with formula. Occasionally I give her a bottle if we're going out somewhere. When she was younger she was cow-milk-protein sensitive, but I've heard that Goat's milk protein is much closer to human milk protein. I know doctors don't recommend cow milk for infants younger than 1 year because their digestive systems can't quite handle the cow-milk proteins. So here's my question: Is there any reason not to give my daughter goat's milk...

Bottle Feeding Problems

Any suggestions - My 6 month old is a very picky bottle feeder, he prefers me to feed him (breast feeding) and it has only gotten worse. Friday at daycare he only ate 1 ounce in 8 hours and today he didn't eat anything in 8 hours (it usually ends up being 12 hours total from the time I feed him before daycare & the time I get him home to feed him) he does eat cereal around noon & baby food around 6, but he still needs his milk. Daycare does have 3 different types/brands of bottles to try.

Name Brand Vs. Generic Formula

My daughter has been on Similac formula since the hospital. I continued to buy the Similac because that is what she started with. I've heard from others that the generic (Parent's Choice, Up and Up, etc.) are the exact same make-up of all the major formula brands at half the cost. What have been your experiences with name brand vs. generic?

Introducing the Bottle After Two Weeks. What If She Prefers It?

My baby is just over two weeks. I've been struggling with a lazy eater and a just adequate milk supply. By direction of my lactation consultant, I have been pumping and syringe feeding with expressed breast milk. Its getting tedious to syringe feed since its not just two or so syringes she takes but needs more like 3-4 after a feeding. I want to give it to her in a bottle now, but am terrified. One of the reasons I could not breast feed my first is that she was introduced to the bottle and became too frustrated at the breast. I just...

Question About Breastfeeding!

I have a 3 month old that is currently breastfeeding and I just wanted to know if I am supposed to be having my regular periods each month. I have forgotten to ask my ob/gyn about this. She just told me that I wouldn't get pregnant. I have menstrual cramps once in a while, but no period. Is this normal?

Really Moody, Lacking Tolerance While Weaning...

Is it just me or has anyone else gotten really moody, temperamental, impatient when trying to wean from breastfeeding? I'm working on weaning my 15 month old, and I swear I've lost all of my patience and have felt really edgy these last couple of weeks. I've gotten him down to just his naptime feeding, daddy is helping with bedtime and so sometimes I have to nurse him down for bedtime/ or middle of the night feedings. So we are almost there...BUT I don't recall feeling or acting this way with my first. Then again he was my first and I...
